Well, First things first, we need people to pay up.
Once Every one Pays up, we can move forward.
I don't want 15+ snorkels sitting at my house with my bank account suffering.

I am not waiting to sell every single one, but I would at least like the people who signed up to pay.

I just don't understand the members that view the thread, and read my Pm's and I tag them and they know they need to pay, but don't.
    It is really frustrating.

    Anyways, Order has been Placed.
I was quoted 4-7 days to arrive.
    Today is the 23rd.
So we should be right on schedule.

I understand you guys are anxious but at this point, the ball is in the [unpaid] members court.
It is also outside my control to speed up shipping.

I am expecting the Snorkels to Arrive between the 28th and 30th.
On May 1st, I will ship them out via UPS and update everyone with a Tracking number.

Then I will install my Snorkel on my truck and take photos and help anyone who needs help!

    Thanks for your patience guys.

    MAX

thought you guys might enjoy this:

    Differences between snorkel types

The major difference is that Airflow is designed for improved performance first, better fuel economy, reduced exhaust emission and the ability to go through river crossing in certain conditions.

The basic rule that a snorkels must perform to are:
That the snorkel needs to supply 1.4 times the air that the engine requires at the air intake. This is to allow for friction loss down the length of the snorkel body and induction piping.
In order to deliver minimum required airflow.

    Snorkel body
Many types of snorkel have bodies, which are restrictive to airflow due to shape, volume and placement of the out let.

Part of the incoming air is used to separate out the heavy particles in the air ram. Example dirt, insects and water.
The participial separation provided by the air ram is a variable system. Therefore the prevailing way the vehicle is being driven and the driving conditions effect the separation rate.

Pre filter slow dow the air. Therefore the air slows down, less separation occurs and therefore the pre filter collects more contaminants.
There is not an absolute number (amount) of separation of contaminants.

A comparison against type of inlet / air ram, shows the following across 3 set flow rates as an average. The flow rate's are
The same amount of contaminate per volume is used.

    Approximate % contaminates removal
Type A triangular shape ( several brands ) 10 to 30%, using maximum 50% of the available flow for separation
Type B curved down top ( several brands ) 15% to 50 %, using maximum 45% of the available flow for separation
Type C cyclone ( several brands )(type 1) 40 to 70 %, using maximum 30% of the available flow for separation
Type D cyclone ( several brands )(type 2) 80 to 90 %, using maximum 22% of the available flow for separation
Type E cold air induction air ram 30% to 80%, using maximum 18 % of the available flow for separation

    Screen Shot 2016-04-23 at 5.23.03 AM.jpg

Ration of inflow rate to out flow rate of the intake as an average across the normal driving speed range. (0 to 100 kmph)
    A. Inlet 0.9 to 1.
    B. Inlet 0.8-1.5 to 1.

    C. Inlet 1.1 to 1.
    D. Inlet 1.5 to 1.
    E. Inlet 3.8 to 1.
Any thing under >1. is creating a vacuum at the entry point. Any thing over < 1 is creating compressing at the entry point. Using Air Ram, cyclone separator .

In fact the Airflow Cold Air Induction range has 3.8 time the air. It uses approximately as low as 3% and up to 15% of the available air for the separation process.
Some other brands have a various cosmetic shapes that can impair the inward flows dramatically. They can use a very large percentage of the available air for the separation process. This will vary depending on the prevalent conditions and should only be used a guide.

The net result is in Diesel vehicles can have a 30% increase power at below optimum

revolution of the engine. Up to 15 % increase in torque are possible, a large decrease in emission, decrease in fuel consumption are also possible.

The Airflow cold air induction snorkel is generally more difficult to fit. Because we insist that the maximum amount of air is delivered to the engine to make the improvements. This can make a lot tighter to fit. Where possible we use round ridged piping or TRP spiral wound ducting which stays round. Therefore less net turbulence. Flexible pipe that dose not stay round has a greater possible friction loss. It therefore has a greater friction loss that spiral duct in certain circumstances.

There are snorkels that are being sold by different marketing and brand organisation that copy and or rebrand the original snorkels design. These snorkels can be up to 12% smaller overall due to the copying processed used. Modification are made so that the air ram / inlet device fits no. It is still smaller over all.

This can effectively reduce the flow by up to 25% in some cases from the original. Considering that in a lot of cases there is insufficient air being delivered in the first place. The engine can be starved of air. This can lead to increases in fuel consumption,

Differences between snorkel typesemissions, decrease in overall power and possible shorter engine life.

In many cases the products are made of sub standard material that do not last. That can cause the product to:
    Loose there shape.
Move when exposed to the sun.

    Become brittle and break down.
    Warp and move after fitting
Re milled or recycle what decreases life.
Some use cheap virgin materials that are better than re- cycle or milled.
This is certainly no where near the standards of the compounded materials use by the original manufactures.

    1.0 Introduction

We, at Airflow Vector, design Snorkels that not only improve the operation of vehicles in wet or dusty environment but that are also esthetically pleasing

    2.0 Generalities

Generally, vehicles are designed to operate as the best compromise between power, fuel economy and costs. In the specific area of air supply, engines are often starved of air. Air is sucked hard from a little vent under the bonnet or the mud guard to provide enough volume to mix with the fuel.

To make an analogy, it is like trying to scuba dive with a very long non- pressurized hose connected to the surface. It does take much depth before running out of air. This is because the size of the hose is too small, and / or there is not enough pressure outside to push the air down. This is an example of a net vacuum system; the lungs do not have enough power to counteract the pressure deficiency. For an engine, a similar thing happens and it requires energy to suck the air inside the fuel mixing system.

However, the improvements don’t stop there and we want to expand on another point which is often omitted: it is the amelioration of the vehicle performance and fuel economy. These benefits are obtained by the careful development of our Airflow Cold Air Induction System (ACAIS). This document explains how it operates.

In scuba diving, the issue can be solved by carrying a compressed air tank on the back or using a compressor on a ship to push the air down the hose. This permits reaching greater depth without lacking air. This newer arrangement has become a net compression system.

Understanding this issue, we designed our ACAIS to operate as a net compression system.

3.0 Description of the parts comprising the ACAIS

ACAIS comprises several parts, each one calculated to provide more air than the minimum necessary ensuring that the air supply remains a net compression system all the way to the engine. The parts are from top to bottom:

    · A snorkel tube· A connection system to the air box (combination of hoses)

    3.1 The Air Ram
    Screen Shot 2016-04-23 at 5.28.34 AM.jpg
A hat (we call it an Air Ram)

The Air ram is designed to provide the largest possible air intake while avoiding deflections. Its face is slightly leaning forward to scope as much air as possible. Its internal contour is modeled on a parabolic shape to create both a compression effect and a spinning effect.

The spinning effect creates a centrifugal force which causes the large contaminants (insects, large dust particles, water droplets, etc...) that have entered the Air Ram to fall in the bulged cavity around the snorkel
intake. The four slots cut at the base of the Air Ram are the exhausts for these contaminants. The particles get trapped in the recesses and are ejected by the air pressure. The excess air is then pushed violently (we like to say “rammed”) inside the snorkel body.

Because of the intrinsic aerodynamic characteristics of our Air Ram, turning it in the opposite of the direction of travel will cancel the pressure necessary for proper particle separation, thus removing its effectiveness. In extreme situations generated by high speed, it may create a trailing vacuum that could cause irreversible engine damage!

    3.2 The Snorkel body

    airflowtaco.jpg

The Snorkel body is divided in three sections, the Air Ram connection tube which follows the contour of the “A” pillar section of the wind screen; the plenum chamber, which is secured to the guard and finally the intake section which penetrate inside the motor cavity. Each section plays a role in air speed and pressure.

The Air Ram connection tube receives violently swirling air from the Air Ram.

Its function is the slowing down the swirls and to deliver calmer air to the plenum chamber.

The plenum chamber is an oversized reservoir of air. The calm air it stores is compressed and ready to be pushed inside the engine on demand. The plenum chamber continuously buffers the demand. The intake section allows the air to be directed through the connection system.

    3.3 The connection system

    Screen Shot 2016-04-23 at 5.32.07 AM.jpg

The connection hose supplied by our company is known as TRP duct. It is the connection system can comprise several parts depending where the air box is located. In most case the Snorkel intake section is connected to the air box via a hose.

made out of long lasting rubber impervious to chemical and reinforced by a metallic skeleton. The skeleton is critical to ensure that the hose keeps the same shape in all conditions. While it suffers a little from friction losses, it is preferable than collapsing under negative pressure and randomly restricting the air intake as it happens with some other non-reinforced connections.

Once the engine computer management system has worked out the frictions losses; it will adjust itself and deal with them. However, if the air becomes restricted randomly by the loss of volume in the hose connection, it is unable to adjust in time to cater for these situations. The tuning would then become inadequate.

    4.0 Conclusion

By fitting an ACAIS, you should notice quite a lot of improvement to the behaviour of your vehicle.

    · Improved air flow to engine intake
    · Improved output in both torque and horse power
    · Improved engine response
    · Decrease in turbo lag
    · Lessening of emissions
    · Lessening of air deflection by the air ram
    · Higher degree of air separation
    · Higher air flow inside the snorkel body

Our ACAIS is calculated to provide a minimum 200% of free air to the inlet as base load. All these advantages result from Cold Air Induction

System being a net COMPRESSION system. It is unlike other manufacturers that supply net VACUUM systems. With ACAIS, the crossing of water is a BONUS!

Anyone notice in the last big thing that Max posted how some of the images must be reversed or that the snorkel magically appears on the driver's side? Lol The fourth one up from the bottom is the only one though.
