AirFlow Snorkel Group Buy!! [CLOSED]

Got mine installed yesterday. Had a hell of a time with that upper most stud. Lost the washer, but got the nit on it. Also those damn retaining clips for the splash guard didn't wanna come out very easily. If I could have did it differently, I would have bought all new clips and just cut the old ones out. I managed not to break the ones for the fender flares though, I was very careful there. Also couldn't find butyl mastic, so went with black urethane calk instead. Got that stuff all over myself, and it's not easy to get off. I used the heat gun method to pull the elbow through the engine compartment, worked well. The template was slightly off, so make sure that it fits how you want it to sit. All in all, I'm glad I did it, truck looks awesome with it, and my intake will be much cleaner. My intake tube was full of leaves and dirt. Pic for proof of completion.

I bought insurance on each one. Ups sounds like some real ignorant people working there. My ups guys know that I would not accept the package if it looks damaged.

I didn't get a chance to not accept it...it was left on my front porch.

Either way though I would have accepted it...the package was tore and 5 studs and washers/ 3 screws were missing but that's nothing I couldn't find at lowes.

It all looks fantastic except for one thing...

 

So I had previously bought some of this tape from Home Depot to seal a leaky exhaust pipe from my gas dryer. It was next to the foil tapes for ducting way against the back wall. HD website Description says Butyl Rubber Adhesive; not certain that this is the product of discussion but appears to be close enough. I may have to fold it over on itself or add layers to make it a bit thicker. The Nashua website is devoid of any tech specs or info. As you can see from the pic, the end of the tape without the anti stick backing shows some very good and flexible adhesion. Anyone have experience or can comment on this? Thanks!

 

65 was brokerage and 20ish was tax. I usually ship to the border but I didn't want to drive down just for the snorkel.

 

The butyl rubber is just the adhesive portion of the tape. Although that stuff is great for sealing ducts, I think you'll find that it will be difficult in our application. I used black urethane in a calk tube. I put a bead around the male portions of each tube, and it seems to have sealed very well. I picked it up at Ace where the rest of the calking is. I'm sure HD, Lowes, or any other hardware store should have that. Good luck with your install, cant wait to see the result. Oh and, Hook Em!

 

And as for proving my snorkel, well, today was the day. Went to the gym, all nice n sunny out. As I was leaving, rain was coming in sideways, I was soaked getting to the truck, streets were flooding. I found a way around everyone and punched it, speed limit of course. Heavy, heavy rain and wind the whole 15 minute drive home. Pulled the truck in the garage and popped open the air intake. Dry, super dry. Excellent investment if I do say so myself.

 

FedEx quoted me $210 CAD all in on my shipment of Avid bars from Arizona, then stroked me to the tune of nearly $450. It took me nearly a year to get my money back ($150). They still fucked me.

I hate fucking couriers when it comes to international shipping. I'll spend the $40 in gas and 2 1/2 hr. round trip out of spite before I give them another fucking dime.

hi, Matt. Can you give us a "how to remove your fender guide" with some pictures to assist us? Ive looked online and didnt have any luck with the search. I Installed the snorkel last night, but I am having trouble with several of the bolts. One is that bastard infamous top bolt, the other one wont thread(thinking there might be a spur on the bolt that I missed when I knocked other spurs of the other bolts). Since a cut and drilled holes all in my truck I am going to want the project done right and have it setting as tight as possible tot he fender. Plus I am sure your knowledge will be able to help some of the other guys with there install.

I can get some pics after work but the steps are: remove the grille, remove the headlight, remove the three bolts on top of the fender that are under the hood, remove the three bolts from the wheel well back towards the door (might be two, can't remember off the top of my head). The are also two nuts up by the headlight to take off but part of me thinks you remove these when you take the headlight out. I'll confirm later. I see you have a 2015 so the headlight area might be different than my 2010. Hope that helps for now.

 

DAMN! Someone told me exactly what you did, but many others said no about having to remove the grille, and headlight. I believe this will be my next project on my next day off. Im going to go this routebecause IM OCD about my truck and want everything tightened down correctly. I should have done it this way to begin with. Hell it would have probably taken just as long if not quicker, and I would be done now.

Do I need to completely uninstall the head light, or is it ok to just let it hang out resting on the bumper?

 

How much clearance is everyone getting between their A pillar and Snorkel? IS it resting flush on the pillar or is there some day light in between the two?

 

Resting should be fine, you just need some wiggle room to work with.

I have some room in between mine, not completely flush. But I know I didn't line up mine perfectly either.

 

I've got day light. I decided not to drill the a pillar. Drilling a perfectly good fender was painful enough.

 

There is no shot you can get that thing perfectly on the frame of the truck. I've got daylight too
