Let me know. I plan on checking that out this year. I'd like to incorporate that into a T.W.A.T/Potosi run.

Can't wait for the next get together!

    Have fun this weekend!

I'm leaving Pine Island Florida tomorrow morning. I'm not sure how I'm going to adapt to the cold again:oops:

Removed swingout for the remainder of winter. It's alot of weight hanging way behind the axle. Put the spare in the bed right over the axle. Interesting to see if it affects the handling in the snow this week

So I've had a rager for the Africa Twin for quite some time. I've got an opportunity to pick up a 2017 w/ 400mi on the clock, probably little to no mfg warranty left, but it has bags $1k+, bash plate, crash bars and a second set of tires(no rims) to the tune of $2-3k. It's located 8 hours away

A dealer 1.5 hours from me has a new 2018 with full mfg warranty and no extras for $1.5k more. However, the 2018 updates would make a nice perk, and the dealer is interested in my trade.

    2018 AT Updates
    • New intake design and exhaust aid mid-range response
    • New exhaust also designed to improve engine note
    • New lighter balance shaft weight
    • New lithium-ion battery saves 2.3 kg and enhances durability
    • New Throttle By Wire system with four riding modes
    • Wet weight 2kg lighter at 230kg (MT version)
    • Rider footepgs and pillion footpeg hangers redesigned for off-road use
    • Stainless steel spokes improve durability and ease of care
    • New Emergency Stop Signal function for rear indicators
    @Shellshock opinions?

Personally, I’d go with the newer one that’s closer, especially if they’ll give you reasonable trade on the bike you’ve got. When you factor the time and travel costs, it doesn’t save you that much to get the one farther away, plus you are traveling that far sight unseen and it may or may not be what you expect.

I bought my tenere with no accessories and the could pick the exact accessories I wanted. For example on the tenere, not all the crash bars have good mount points and some are more for look than actually crashing. Same with some of the panniers. Mine all use a single key so i can open them and there’s one latch to remove them from the bike. I bought a whole bunch of stuff from touratech.. which was a little painful on the wallet but super high quality and awesome support. Some stuff from twisted throttle as well.

It looks like there’s some nice upgrades on the 2018 as well. I’ve got throttle by wire on my bike with 2 riding modes (sport and touring) and its pretty nice. In addition to cruise, abs, tcs and the electronic suspension adjustment.

You may also get them to throw in a first service or helmet or something (Whatever you want). From my experience, they’ll usually deal pretty good on old stock that’s still new on the floor.

Just watch long way round and long way down while you recover. Charlie does plenty of wheelies... on a 1200gs

I was kidding, low speed low side on a left turn. Hit a spot of diesel or oil and was down before I could react. Bike landed on my left foot. New boots are my next purchase

That sucks. I low sided my fz6r with like 300 miles on it in some gravel. Had a couple hundred on the tenere when I dumped it on the side in the driveway. I got lucky and just ended up with a bruised ego and reality check both times and a few cheap broken parts.

At this point I’m convinced you gotta just dump it over and get it over with then you are good. @Tigerian fell over at a stop sign trying to impress some girls after he bought my bike.

Yea, timing couldn't be better. Quarantined at home with not much to do.
I actually picked her up and rode home. Nice scratch on the hand guards is the only damage. Been over 30k miles since I've had a bike on the ground
