I think he means the OEM fob has about a 40' range, and the new fob has a 10' range. Good to hear yours works fine though.

Yes exactly the case. 10' with new fob case and 40' with stock plastic case. Either the antenna wire touching the amplifier it doesn't work at all- not even 6" away from truck. Adam offered to refund me for it but I really want to make it work and I'm trying every angle possible to get it to work right.

This is kinda where I am. I love the case and want to make it work whatever way possible. I'd say within 10' of the truck it works every time, but past that usually nothing, maybe unlocking, but locking is no bueno. Like I said though, I love the case, and will be keeping it for sure, just need like 10' more of range lol.

That sucks yours isn't working either but I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one having issues. I have a very strong mechanical aptitude so it's not like I'm trying to put the cover on backwards. Please let me know if you find a fix. Where's your antenna wire in relation to the amplifier. Mine is also inconsistent within that 10' range

Ok right or wrong this is what I did... I took the transmitter part out of the case and worked perfect. Put the transmitter in the metal part of the case worked perfect as well, put transmitter in plastic part of case ( with wire) didn't work at all, took wire out of case touched it just to the amplifier and nothing again, did the same this but allowed the wire to touch the side of battery at the same time and it worked great. So now I'm thinking wtf aaron said not to let wire touch the battery? I bent the loop out of the wire so it was still touching amplifier but would also touch outside of battery when transmitter is in the case. Put both case halves together and amazingly it works!!!! Not quite the range as stock but a lot better than 10'. Maybe like 20' now! If anyone knows why this can have a dangerous outcome please let me know and I'll report back if it explodes in my pocket. Only thing I can think is the antenna wire needed to be part of the ground.

I'm having the same problem. It doesn't work at all with the wire installed and with it touching the amplifier. It kind works within 10 feet with out the wire in the case/fob.

Believe me I haven't kept my keys in a place where anything else would burn down I remember back when it had my motor home and it had a CB. The antenna had a separate ground wire attached to it. Now if the wire was touching both the positive and negative sides of the battery at the same time I'd be a little more worried. I bent the wire on mine so it's touching the side of the metal frame that the battery locks into- effectively a ground. Like I initially posted "right or wrong"...

Thanks for sharing maxtherat. I am going to have my test team look at and verify this method. I'd encourage anyone who is having signal range issues to try this method, but at their own risk until I can figure out exactly what is going on here. I do apologize for any inconvenience to any one who purchased one of these cases and is having problems with the signal range. Feel free to PM me or email adam@ajtdesign-llc.com.

Setup mine today. Definitely a drop in range, but I did not install new battery. Seemed to work about 30 feet away, but the second time I used it, seemed to drop in half.

Got my blue fob installed yesterday. The packaging was great and the fob is high quality, looks good and is easy to install. The blue color looks a bit lighter than I expected, almost terquoise in certain lighting. I kinda wish I got the silver because mine has a few scratches already, but that was expected. The range does kinda suck, hopefully Adam comes up with a fix for that, but I don't think it's really a big deal. Overall it's a nice upgrade over the cheap plastic OEM fob.

Got it and switched the guts already. It's late, kids are asleep so will test out the range tomorrow. Feels super sturdy!
