I had a little difficulty installing my AJT oversized cup holder. The front end of the cup holder just did not want to seat, once I was reinstalling the center console with it installed in it. I couldn't tell what it was hanging up on either, that was a little maddening. Everything was appearing to line up correctly. I did finally get it to seat, but it did with a little more force than I would think necessary. Nothing broke, and nothing snapped.

Was about to order this along with some other things. Is there a current discount for AJT with TW or the holidays to save a little?

AJT had a Black Friday sale on them. That's when I bought mine. May have to wait for next year...

I had the same issue as you. My trim just would not pop in properly. Clips weren’t lining up as they were all moved forward. Spent an hour trying to make this work. Had to move back the inner plastic brace as the cups were too large and we’re getting hung up. It’s not a perfect fit but I can live with the gap. Just Glad I can finally put my yeti there :)

I just received my AJT Design cup holder and like others could not get it to fit. There is a crossmember under the center console cover that sits just behind the cup holder. This interferes with the oversized cup holder. It forces the center console cover forward enough to not allow the clips to line up. I was unable to click everything back into place without breaking clips. It’s a novel idea and much needed in the 3rd gen Tacoma, but unfortunately was poorly executed.

Just installed mine. I had the gap as others had. In trying to adjust it to not have the gap I bent/broke two of the top clips. Now the top portion where it connects to the center console is raised. Had I known this was an issue I would have went with Z Precision. I’m slightly pissed right now. Maybe I’ll revert back to stock and see how that looks. If it looks normal after reverting to stock I’ll order Z Precision. I shoulda done more research before ordering. I looked at both and ordered this one cause I thought it looked more stock and didn’t have the logo showing. Big mistake but I guess I mostly have myself to blame.

Keeping playing around with it. It will eventually clip in. There’s 3 clips on the top of the centre console. I crushed mine trying to install the cup holder. Double check to make sure none are bent and sitting improperly

I took it out. Reinstalled my factory cup holder (back to normal) ordered Z Precision.

I initially thought this was a mod that I didn’t need. Then I took a road trip, even one of my smaller bottles didn’t seat into the factory cup holders.

Ordered the AJT piece and installed in about 45 minutes. Super easy deal, one of the more useful mods I’ve done to date.

Yeah I don’t know, I may be an idiot (quite possible) but I couldn’t for the life of me get the console to seat properly with it installed.

Don’t ask me how I did it. I was lightly pushing downward, while aligning the rear and it just kinda fell into place.

Did you have a gap at all?

Yeah looks pretty good. Maybe I let my frustration get the best of me. I’ll reassess and try again.

I just installed the AJT cup holder with no issues or gap by following instructions on you tube from some guy for the z precision cup holder. Basically just put pressure on that center bracket and retightened its screw. It didn’t feel like it even moved position but everything lined right up and I have no gap. It’s soooo nice to have my water bottles actually fit! I just wish there was one for behind the center console for the kids now.

Just installed the AJT tonight. Before snapping in I loosened that screw and moved the bar back and I still ended up snapping 2 of the clips and the plastic guide at the back of the console. I also have a gap on the right side but not the left. I can live with it but I wish I'd have spent a little more on the Z precision now.

I got the AJT cup holder and had no issues with the installation. No gaps, works perfectly and less expensive than the other brand.

My big mistake was reassembling in reverse. I popped the front down and popped everything back from front to center console. When I got to the center console I was already pushing down hard to get things to snap in place. Had I popped the rear in first I'd have probably been OK. Kinda bummed I broke a bunch of tabs on a 4 day old truck. :( That's what I get for trusting AJT's install video (and probably why his instructional video has the console on a kitchen table and not in the truck).

I was probably lucky that I didn’t watch the video, seemed easy enough to just go for it, but I’ve had lots of experience with this kind of stuff.
