Local guy around here is selling an AK47. Comes with one mag and its from Romania. Wants $450 for it and wondered if that was a good price. Also what do I need to be concerned with about when I go look at it besides the mag not fitting well and the barrel not being straight etc? Or would I be better off to buy some thing like this? http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct911.aspx. Or just save up for an Bushmaster AR-15 which is what I really want?

If what you really want is the AR, I'd save up and wait to get it. I'd bet the AK doesn't stop you from wanting the AR.

If that AK is used then he is asking too much. you can usually pick up AK's at gun shows new around 400-450

why a bushmaster? spend the same amount of coin or less (usually less) and get a better gun.

    http://palmettostatearmory.com/AR-rifle-kits.php

I built mine for $630 and its mil spec. Bushmaster follows no specs...

get a Saiga instead of that POS. If you are going to get an AK variant might as well get them from the motherland.

Save for the AR. You already have a pretty good chunk of money to start building your AR. There are a bunch of threads on here about ARs where you can get a lot of information seeing how a lot of the community own/build them. Let us know what you decide.

    I've got an AK-47 and an AR-15.

I like shooting the AK more to be honest, but it's personal preference.

Over all I think the Ak it's a better gun that AR-15. You should not pay more than 350$ for that one.

That look's to be a 350- 400 gun no more. That said in 1968 I turned in a ar15 (M16) and got my own ak47 MUCH BETTER GUN BACK IN THE DAY. Never liked the made by matel look or action of the 16. I'm one the hunt for the right ak47 this year. Good luck on whatever you get... Jim:cool:

I think the question that hasn't been brought up yet that should is: what is your intended use?

The AR could be more useful in the US since you could use it for hunting small game, target practice etc... the larger cal of the AK might make you feel more um manly? but not as widely useful outside of a combat situation which if happening inside the US, shit has really hit the fan :p

let's got do some iron sight shooting at 300yds and beyond and then we'll see which is a better gun

i've got both AK's and AR15's and there's no way i'd choose an AK47 to take into battle with me over a AR15

I'll go! I have an AK74 that will stay with an AR for 300yds.

As a FFL holder myself I can tell you that that is probably going to be a wasr-10 rifle in the picture you posted from century arms. assuming it takes hi-cap double stack mags I think that is a fair deal if he'd throw in an extra mag. Most manufacturers and distributors have raised prices in some cases up to 20% as of late. In the link you posted that is an AK74 not an AK47. the 47 and 74 take different kinds of ammo

Dude if you want an AR save your money get an AR. An AK will never be an AR and vise versa. if you are looking for something that has the best of both the AK and the AR look at the Robinson Armament XCR

also if you go with a WASR-10 make sure it has a different trigger installed like a tapco G2 rather than the original one that came from russia

it depends on what kind of shooting you want to do. in 100-200 yards the AK is unbeatable. above 200 yards the ballistics on the AR are much better. I love my AK47 and its a tack shooter at 100 yards and to me if yuou need to shoot much more than 200 yards with an assault rifle you brought the wrong gun to the battle. not to mention you can shoot an AK47 in any condition. and never field dress it. The first fully auto AR i saw jammed after the 6th round went through it. Id rather have a gun that shoots when i pull the trigger than not shoot anything.\

AMMO is cheaper for an AK-47 and the most widely produced fire arm and ammo in the world. so when the shit hits the fan you can be guaranteed no matter where you are in the world you have ammo for your gun.

I've heard from those in the know that Romanian built AKs are low quality trash. The Czech made AKs are supposedly manufactured at a much higher standard. You also can't go wrong with a converted Saiga.

yeah? i've got an AK74 also, i'm not talking about hitting a car sized target

i will give you that the 5.45x39 round is alot more accurate than it's 7.62x39 big brother tho, and it's wayyyy cheaper to shoot!!
