Sorry guys, being out of state for work keeps me off TW and keeping updated. @O906 I think that's a good idea to lay out supplies/gear that we all have if you want to give us an initial list of things I can start compiling them on the attendee list on the 1st page.

 

Guys the folks from earthbound overland (josh) and broken spoke overland (Michael) and the peach state guys are going to have this trail system jammed up they are expecting a big turnout. Should be about 50-60 rigs. If that is your thing then I would say go for it. But if not I would work with them on CB they usually run on channel 32 and check in on their location. It's been raining a ton and will be plenty of mud on 600-1 and 600-2 don't say I didn't warn you. I know all of this because I was supposed to be one of the guides for the ride (whoops double booked a wedding)

 

Im here , like most plans with my job I wont know until the week prior. Labor day weekend I'm planning on making a run for colorado to run black bear pass, you should join

I feel ya, shit gets expensive real quick. If I got 20mpg it wouldn't be so bad, gas is majority of the cost

 

Yeah I'm looking at $1100 in gas for this trip (round trip)

 

Ladies and gentlemen....Utah is awesome. Salt Lake City is gorgeous and there is so much to do around here. Why in the hell do we live in Alabama...

 

Where are you getting $1100 from?

I'm figuring around $450 in gas round trip and that's with an extra 20% fudge factor.

 

I've asked myself why I chose AL for the past 3 years. Only 9 more months to go!

Also I'm from GA so I can talk shit about the south

 

uh what kinda mpg are you getting? I'm guessing 650$ or more JUST for the road trip and back...not counting any Moab riding fuel..

I used gasbuddy.com to figure out the real time prices of gas at 13mpg city and 16mpg hwy. I got 17mpg last long trip I took to TN though. I just added another $100 on top to be sure I save enough.

 

Um....

~4000 miles round trip
@ 16mpg average
= 250 gallons
@ $2.50 average/gal
= $625 gas just for trip.

 

No but I'm planning to take more $$$ than not enough.

 

You're 800 miles off it's 3200 miles around trip and I know we ain't going to go 800 miles of trails there. I will probably just round it up to an even $500 for fuel just to be safe all the same.

 

Well I wasn't sure what route we were taking, and added in quite a bit of fudge factor for safety. Even if you strictly stick to your 3200 miles at 2.50 a gallon you're 500$ just for gas there and back.

 

Does it even matter just put back an ass of money for the trip
