I've got a pretty important decision to make and would like some advise. I'm about to get 5100s up front with stock springs set at 1.75. I plan to also get 5100s in the rear but my big decision involves lifting the rear. I currently have the three leaf pack and am past the warranty for the TSB (last owner didn't do the TSB). The TSB springs sound like the perfect amount of lift I would like to have in the rear. The only problem is everyone that has TSB leafs for sale is all the way out in California, so if any of you have a set laying around or know anywhere I could maybe find some for cheap then that would be extremely helpful.

If I can't go that route, the I guess my other option is AAL. I'm looking at the All pro 1.5 AAL or something similar to that. Have you guys had any luck with that? I'm open to other AAL suggestions, but I would rather not buy a new leaf pack because of the price. Really don't want to do blocks either because that won't change much with those crappy 3 leaf packs in the rear. I really want to get rid of them because they are pretty pitiful.

    Any advise is appreciated!

About to upload some pictiures of my build. Nothing real technical about it, but I think it's going well so far. This weekend I'm planning on working on the grill....Y'all think I should plasti-dip the front or use duplicolor black? Haven't made up my mind about the badges yet. Thanks

I am going to generalize and say, all single leaf AAL's are the same. that being said slap another $50 on and look into a 3 leaf progressive AAL. I had one before the dakars and can tell you first hand there is a night and day difference between them and a single AAL. WELL WORTH THE EXTRA little bit of money. You can find them by Icon or Wheelers. Depending on what brand you want.

Alright, I think that is becoming my only option unfortunately.. Did you get the all pro u-bolt flip kit? If so, did you buy that expensive bump stop or do something on your own?

im running the all poo flip, yes. and no i didnt get the timbrens, im not going LT rear and i dont run high speed whoops sections so I dont need timbrens. I welded my stockers on the tops of the plates and said good enough for now until the major redesign of the rear.

You have redone the rear springs on yours almost as many times as you have the front. :D

You should be the leading authority on the diffences in quite a few different setups.

Haha sounds good to me. You reccomend the flip kit? Am I going to have to get a new u-bolt kit anyways because of the AAL? Will the AAL come with the new u-bolt kit?

Well let's see here. Front; spacer, eibach and billies, 885s and Nitro's, then a second set of 885s and nitros, and now 886s and Nitro's. Rear; block, single 2" aal, tsb springs, tsb springs and 1.5" single aal, tab and wheelers three pack, currently Dakar's, and later Dakar's with d29 aal and defined shackles plus complete revamp of shock towers and shackles.

That sound like enough experience to you? :D

I do recommend a shackle flip. You should get new ubolts with any aal but they will be square ubolts which will be useless with a flip kit. So maybe try and get a discount on the new aal by having them not include ubolts and just use the ones that comes with the flip kit.

Alright, is the progressive aal THAT much better that just a single aal? Because there is a significant price difference. Also consider I'm running the 3 leaf pack currently.

Short answer, yes. Long answer, I would have to sit down and have a lengthy conversation with you.

Oh and he can be quite winded in his conversations, so be careful taking him up on that...

Perhaps I should have been more specific. lmao. Does anyone recommend a SPECIFIC sand blasting place? I am still old-school in that word of mouth advertizing plays an important role. When looking for a new thing I like asking people I know if they recommend something specific.

    A Crap Load

Another thing to consider during the conversation is whether you will be adding any more weight to the truck. I have the Icon Stage 3 with an AAL in the back and after adding my CBI bumper/swing gate and accessories (not to include the rest of a camping loadout) I lost about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Not good when the AALs were only supposed to lift it 1.5 inches to start with. After a discussion with Icon they said put my overload leaf back on as a first step to resolve this (really glad I held on to that although I sold my OEM shocks) but I have already been looking at some AllProOffroading leafs that give me a 3" inch lift (they have a standard and a stiffer expedition series) if the overload leafs don't do the job. Kind of a hard problem to resolve as I don't drive with all the gear on the majority of the time (at least until I retire:)) and I don't want to go so high that it causes other problems. If I had to do it all over again, I just might have considered a 6" Fabtech lift.

Well if you consider the 3" lift pack then I would be happy to buy the progressive leaf off of you if you don't need it.

Looks like you guys had a good time at Egland. You should definately post this up in the South Alabama thread.

The double doughnuts were pretty cool in your video.

Thanks. We had a great time. I think I was able to post the invite to almost every AL thread. I got the Mobile thread so that should cover several members.

Hopefully Daphne is at least as good

You B'Ham and Huntsville guys wanna join us one weekend at Choccolocco Offroad park? We have started going about every weekend. Went today and will go again next weekend probably. Or just about any weekend is possible. We're pretty much stock vehicles but it can be pretty challenging up there even with slightly modded vehicles.
