Just wanted to introduce myself, I've been a member here for about 3 years. I bought a 2011 DBSB Prerunner TRD Sport and have since got rid of it for a 2005 4Runner Sport Edition 4wd V8. Needless to say, I need somewhere and someone to hit the trails with. I watched a couple of videos on youtube shot at The Slab in Montevallo. I am a complete newbie to trail riding, but want to do it and I live about 40 minutes away from Montevallo. I just need somewhere to go and someone to show me the ropes. I have the Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer lift (yeah I know, spacers suck and all but that's what I've got) and 265/70/17 BFG AT KOs. When's the next meet at The Slab or wherever close to Bham?

Welcome to TacomaWorld. We'll not really TacomaWorld, but hey! Lol

Unfortunately, they/we don't meet up to often. Everyone is always busy, but there are normally a few meets a year.

Plan one and I'll show up for sure.

How many places do you have it attached to the frame? Just from the looks of it a small fender bender would push that thing up into the grille?

Those bolts where the crash bar came off and where the body mount is directly behind the bumper. Heres the bracket.[IMG]

Thanks for ur concern. Its my first attempt at anytging like this (ive built a few tree stands) but ive already been informed that it shouldnt be that close to the fender bc of frame flex.

Welcome! I to have an 05 4Runner V8 4WD. TheY are a lot more capable than you think. Lol. Mine has yet to let me down and i have pointed it down some bad trails. It got me through a traile that a lifted bronco on 33's got stuck in. Lol

I think also because it is so high up, and the lower brace is at such a steep angle (More than 45 degrees) that a solid bumper bash would shove it right into your grill and radiator. Just the way that it looks in the picture.

One or two things modded... Check out the build thread
He is building it and bracing it the exact same way all 2nd gen bumpers are made. There are only 6 bolts holding any plate bumper on a second gen because there is only one way to mount them.

This was my main concern when I first saw it. Glad someone else agreed. When Brian and I installed my ARB that was the biggest issue we came across during the whole install was getting my gaps big enough and even. Good luck with it! Looks good! Also, do you have any plans for replacing or adding different fog lights?

Got ya. I wasn't sure and was just going based on looks. I didn't think there was that much distance between the frame and the lower radiator support, so it looked to be a potential weak point. Just was a little concerned.

Hello Brian, nice to meet you. We have a few members I believe in the Huntsville area. There is this one guy named Brian with a Taco that looks a lot...like... OH! Sorry Brian. Haven't seen you in so long I thought we lost ya!

^^^^^ Note: Post is dripping with sarcasm!

Business trips and then some of my wife's family coming over to visit along with vacation trips has kept me quite busy.

Congrats on the house Allen. Give me a shout and we can get started on your grill. I also still have your bumper cover in my attic.

Thank ya man! I get moved in this weekend so after that I will be game whenever. I had actually forgotten all about my bumper cover. I can get that thing out of your way as well.

Hopefully this weekend I will be able to find the time to tear out my in dash to hook up my Sirius adapter. Also, I got my Weathertechs in yesterday and already love them. I'll try to get a pic of them soon too. Next mod for me is gonna be tires. I'm torn between Nitto Terra Grapplers and Toyo AT2s. Decisions...decisions!

For those that been to stoney lonesome is this a place that will scratch the mess out of your truck on just some light wheeling?
