Some map info would be awesome.

My interest is peaked on this. Sounds like an easy fun ride for the most part...and close to boot!

    Look at build!
Just don't listen to Travis when he says its only a few more minutes to the top and 30 minutes later you finally make it... a few minutes after a 6 hour ride to Alabama then being up all day and riding up skyway at 3 am turns any short ride into a long one! You guys will have to plan another meet for when im back down!

No problem at all for a 2wd. The second part (skyline drive) had a few washed out places last time I went, but I had no issues in 2wd.

You can't be Aaron because I'm Aaron lol! Welcome!! And don't sell your self short on being a 2wd. Your truck is more capable than you may think!!

Oh yes! Very beautiful scenery especially in the fall when the leaves turn. But how are we looking for the 23rd?

I'd be up for a run if I can ever get my truck back from my brother...lol. Which of course means I would have to get the oil pan that is on national back order for his Pathfinder first. Hahaha

I'm still game for the 23rd.. I think it would be fun just to ease around. This new Weber does not like hills.

Also by then I will have my lift on!! :)

Where ya at Matthew? You in?

I will see how many of the T4R guys are coming and let you know. I looked on the map on my iPad and it actually labels the road as Skyway, so I could see the whole thing in both sections. Looks really nice

Could you post a screen shot of the road for us please? I did a search but didn't come up with anything.

I found this blog post on skyway....if you sift through the lengthy story of their trip, it actually has very detailed directions for where the sylacauga end of skyway is, and several nice overlooks in different spots. I found it helpful anyways since I've never been there and don't know anything about it.

Won't be able to make the 23rd, but I'm going to do this soon.....sounds like a really cool drive. Especially in the fall.

Thanks for that. I really would like to make this drive. Also a Wiki article here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alabama_State_Route_281. Not sure if I can make the drive (might be putting on a new bumper and my skids during that weekend I hope) but if a group does make the drive it would be great if someone can GPS the route and save the file.

I'm planning on saving the route on backcountry navigator whenever I do get to go. Also saving GPS coordinates by themselves.

By the time i would zoom in enough to make the Skyway visible it would only show a small portion of it.

I am going to take some screen shots and photoshop them together then highlight the Skyway road. It will take a little while to put it all together but will be pretty nice to have. Then when we make the ride i will take my laptop and make notes on the map of good stopping places and overlooks. Stay tuned

Appreciate your taking the effort to do so. This sounds like a great ride and maybe for an overnighter for those that like to camp.
