Live front axle helps a lot. As well as the front bumper design

It seems odd to me that on the Trd off-road it doesn't have a front locker, does Toyota not know how to do it or something? You'd think at that price tag it would be in there

I honestly didn't expect it in the OR. I did expect it in the pro. As i watched these trucks over the past year, I thought the "best off road tacoma" would have an actual upgrade aside front suspension that might do better in a desert race.
Toyota will have to respond considering the new zr2 Colorado will come with rock sliders and front/rear lockers stock.

That would have sold me on a pro. My problem with the pro is the weird suspension that prevents a bunch of aftermarket stuff. Sport needs rear locker, OR needs front and back, pro needs sliders, fox suspension, and some 33 tires

I was looking at jeep rubis before eventually coming to my senses. I'm not going to be rock crawling or anything of the sort. for the money the Tacoma offered overall more utility for what I needed. You are correct on the pro. the pro was probably in the works before the zr2 but Toyota will have to respond to chevy. . I understand tfrom reading here that Toyota is slow at evolving but that zr2 probably gives them the most competition, offroad wise, that they've had.

But i just got outta work lol. Im still trying to plan for our Up north trip this june. Slowly gathering things up. Still have to get a map book so i can actually plan a route. I know where were going just dont know what trails and roads to use to get there. Lol. After this trip that trip will start getting planned for. Im sure we will have a few bbq's in the next year and a half so we can figure where all to go and get the route mapped out. But ill be in my recliner in t-minus 10 minutes with youtube on the medium screen.

Nothing makes progress happen like a little competition. They move slow because they've had #1 selling mid sized truck for so long. Now they have a real reason to seriously improve it mechanically and stop lolligagging. Crawl control is kinda cool, but I sat in a 2016 and 2017 Trd off-road 4x4 and literally the only difference I noticed is the 17 has a power window for the back window

In all fairness a ton of improvements can't be expected a year into a new gen except for working out kinks.

True, but I'm expecting great things next year. Also the 2017 still has a gear hunting issue so...

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
I didn't know the zr2 had front locker. Whatr about the new bronco? supposedly solid axles and I'm sure they will have comparable off road trims to zr2 and pro. Could be interesting if it could break into the wrangler market.

My driver rear Icon is leaking. Apparently it's a known problem, need to grind down the shock mount a little on turd gens. Not sure if Icon is warrantying them or not. my front leaked a little too but it was my fault when I was putting them on. I really need to send them all back to be serviced and I think they have something like 6k miles on them

Call icon and tell them their shit broke after 6000 miles and see if they'll fix it, if they won't threaten to go on yelp or go to the BBB about a company selling a faulty dangerous product lmao

From my limited experience so far Icons CS sucks. The brackets they send for the front reservoirs wouldnt work for me because of my bumper so I called and he was real short on the phone. Told me point blank they dont alter or fab brackets to different specs. Thats fine but he was acting like there were strippers in the office giving out free lap dances. He couldn't get off the phone fast enough. I told him about the leaking front and instead of offering to take my order he told me to go to the website and that was the end of the convo. Not as big a deal as I'm crying about, but I didn't get the impression that they are one of those companies that goes out of their way to make sure the customer is satisfied.

I'd probably go Fox if I ever did it again. there must be a reason Toyo and Ford use them

I just ordered an icon lift, other than the leak how has it performed for you? What stage did you have? I ordered mine through toytec so I could just use their CS

Edit: maybe you just caught him on a bad day, or maybe he was new?

They are nice. They are digressive so the faster you go the more they suck up. I wouldn't judge them based on that one quick phone call, like you said they could have been busy or whatever.

Do you guys know if cmc voids the warranty? What is the best dealership around Birmingham that will let you get away with it

Doesn't unless that causes the warranty issue. It's federal law.
