I will try to make it by there for a few. As of right now this will be the first weekend in over 2 months that the wife and I will have together at home so we may enjoy football and grilling Saturday and church and being lazy Sunday. But if she has other plans I may be able to stop by and lend a hand or shoot the shit

Anybody got a book case / shelf that they would like to part with? I've looked on LetGo and CL and it's all overpriced junk...as always.

Please live stream the assembly. Ikea projects are always fun to watch from afar.

Is IKEA stuff crappy or what? I have a ton of books, meaning lots of weight on this needed bookshelf. I have no knowledge of their ruggedness. (I just used 'rugged' and 'bookshelf' in the same post?)

I actually have a couple things from there that seem to be quality so far...(knock on Ikea's fake wood) but I have heard horror stories about some of their products literally falling apart for no reason. I just know first hand that their instructions are hilariously awful!

Idk what your budget is, but my grandfather has made custom furniture for 20 years he could build you something awesome no doubt.

I feel like that would be out of my budget, more than likely. I just need a big ass, simple, cheap shelf that won't buckle under probably 400lbs worth of books. lol

Gotcha. What's your budget and how big you need it? I can ask him or we could make it ourselves.

I guess my budget is no more than like $120? lmao

When I go home tonight, I'll stack the books that would get grouped together on shelves and see how big I need it.

This is what I was thinking initially. A standard bookshelf isn't that difficult as far as angles and what not. A lot of 90* angles and flush cuts and you're golden.

Woodworking would be a hobby if I didn't...you know...live in an apartment. So then I spend more buying shit I could just make if I had a shop. lol

Like Allen said bookshelf is super simple. Table saw and full boards of whatever wood you want. Then we can stain it and polyurethane it and it'll be a lifetime piece.
