    Do any of you guys know why a Mini Schnauzer would keep licking the elbows of an older German Shepherd? GSD is 7 and Schnauzer is 1. He incessantly licks our GSD's elbows and anywhere his elbows have touched the floor. There is not an open wound on his elbows just the dry skin that dogs develop in that location. No amount of correcting is working. I don't want to hit him but dang it's getting ridiculous. I'm against shock collars but at this point....I really don't know how to get him to stop.

    Might be a fungus or other skin condition, creating an odor that draws him there. Something as simple as minor scrapes, creates the healing process and the dogs can sense it.

    FWIW, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night and i’m Pulling that out of my ass. :D

    Haha that is what our vet said so the Holiday Inn worked :)

    We've tried the sour spray deterrent but that doesn't help. He will literally lick Link's(GSD) bed for 20 minutes in the spot where his elbow touches if you don't stop him. Same with our area rugs. We've had the vet look at Link's elbows before and everything look normal. At this point I'm thinking Murphy(Schnauzer) has a weird elbow skin fetish or something.
