that's also why my hometown of Arab almost never gets hit with 'em. Being on the mountain serves a great advantage there.

I do believe the Southern Piedmont upland (Auburn/Opelika location) has something to do with the lack of severe tornadoes in this area. Yes we have tornadoes but they are usually only EF0-EF1 in strength and very short lived. I love watching the weather and I have noticed over the years that bad Supercells tend to die out or split once they enter Lee County traveling in northeastern direction up I85. That has to have something to do with the topography of this region.

I enjoy it too, I think meteorology would be a cool field to go into. Always enjoyed as a kid when bad weather would come getting to sit there with dad watching the news and listening to the radios to determine when we needed to take shelter.

Right there with you! I still go back and watch James Spann youtube videos of the April tornadoes and how it all unfolded. That is an event that we hopefully will not see again for a very long time.

Had no idea there was a book. I'll definitely look into that. Auburn University has a storm chaser class in conjunction with the EMA as well as Meteorologist that Tiffany and I plan on taking. From what I understand we would have the basic training to chase storms and relay information to news outlets in the event of an outbreak. You don't have to be enrolled at Auburn or anything as this offered to the public. I really need to find time to take the test for HAM operation.

If I'm not mistaken the one he had was "A Generational Storm" that was more photos and tidbits of stories. Then there is one "What Stands in a Storm" that is more of an actual book with the stories in it and recounts and whatnot.

 It is cool but that is a crap load of money for something that small. They can eat the rest of the tree after they are done with the root.

    Only the best.
Luckly no gashes. Just a couple punctures. Easy to fix and no stitches

Haha! I've never seen a tornado in Opelika personally but I have seen the damage. The only tornado I've ever seen was in the form of a water spout and that was over in Florida at St Andrews State park. Actually saw a couple that evening.

Far Left. There were two visible but one is out of frame.
