Alabama thread!

Have you been over to OBA since they have done all the construction on Perdido Beach Blvd/Hwy182?

 

I honestly didn't care much about it in the past. Working here has pushed my Alabama obsession further over the edge than it already was.

OK good. I know what they were planning on doing but didn't know if it was done

 

Now if people could figure out how to use the road that goes underneath the pass, everything would be better. 9 times out of 10 there is a Louisiana tag trying to turn left across traffic when all they had to do was exit the opposite side and turn right.

 

Yep. Sooooo many people are running across the road over there it's ridiculous. On a typical ride from the condo we rent to the pass, we'll have at least 5 groups of families running across the blvd. It's getting out of hand.

 

And that is totally avoidable. People go down there thinking they are unstoppable. There's a red flag for a reason. I don't care if your Michael Phelps, a red flag is a red flag.

 

It looks like their traffic plan will solve the problem of left hand turners holding up traffic. Right turns only from now on (circled). PERFECT! And it looks like they planned on putting an island in the middle of 182 there at the intersection.

Don't you have this "required" second vehicle so that if you do break something you are covered? Still trying to figure out how the extra vehicle is cheaper than getting a rental for a week if you had to do repairs...

So apparently nobody understands the way financial situations work lol.

The second vehicle isn't so I can go break the first vehicle and just let it sit all willy nilly broken down.

The second vehicle is to be able to drive IF IF IF IF IF IF IF the 1st vehicle breaks, AND I have the money for it to be repaired. If the 1st vehicle is out of commission and not financially able to be fixed, what happens when the 2nd breaks during that time frame? SOL.

As I've stated a few times, this month of April is just tough on me. If it was May/June etc etc I'd be going to AOP no doubt because I would've recouped some funds to fix a break (if occurred), drove the second vehicle while repair, then back into the first once done.

 

Yea that's the one. Robinson Island is south of it.

We stay just off 161 in a nice quiet neighborhood.

 

I understand this thought process. Both my cars where paid off when I got my Tacoma. I drive Tacoma and wife drives Pilot. The accord is for trips now that I don’t travel for work. I drove it yesterday and today due to having people riding around with me. Nice to have a back up in case something happens to one of the others. That way we don’t have to scramble.

 

I just keep considering like when I broke down in Moab. I had to ride with the other guys during that time. If I broke down like that around here, they're not gonna be able to take me to work daily and everywhere I need to go. Second vehicle is required. BUT funding has to be available to fix vehicle 1 so that if something happens to vehicle 2 then vehicle 1 is back up and going instead of just being a paper weight.

 

Hmmm, minus the cost of the 2nd vehicle you could fix most everything....

 

correct, but what would I drive during the repair?

 

A $100 dollar rental for the week. Enterprise will even pick you up.

 

Or doo what the rest of us that don't have the luxury of a 2nd vehicle. Ask friends, taxi, uber.
