You asked if there is a grace period. I gave you an example of where a “grace period” is not honored.

Fact, an expired license will prevent travel! I am proof of that, mine was going to expire during the time of my travel and I was not allowed to get flights booked for return trip because of it. Had to expedite my license renewal the next week and leave a week later due to it.

 

that is downright annoying. thank you for the information though. I was trying to avoid basically paying for 2 licenses in a 2 week time frame, because I want/need to get the STAR ID.

hey so my bossman says just use my passport if I have to travel. did you not have a passport at the time you traveled, or was license just absolutely required?

 

I did not have a passport at the time so my only choice was license.

 

Passport should always work as a valid ID. Its gov't issued. I fly international a good bit and never use anything except my passport. Just make sure it has at least 30 day of validity PAST THE DATE OF YOUR RETURN.

 

Even works for the GRE!
