    If I end up getting in to HAM radio stuff more, then I can use this one when I'm away from the truck and set up my truck as a repeater of sorts. I look at it this way, a CB is only a 5 watt unit and it works just fine for most people.

    EDIT: I'm cancelling my order for the 4w version. Going to order the 8w off of ebay once the cancellation processes.

    The one I/we (i think?) linked was only 4W too I think. I believe it mostly just had a bigger battery, and maybe some other inconsequential changes I didn't notice while comparing the descriptions. It's virtually the same as the $25ish
    $19 uv-5r VHF/UHF dual band radio 144-148mhz 420-450mhz transceiver
    uv-5r on Amazon. Well, it ships much slower too.
