I had this same conversation with a co worker yesterday. People ignore repairs and basic/preventive on going maintenance cause they don’t want to spend the money. Then when they are ready to sell they have have to much to repair and want top dollar with out addressing the issues.

 

This guy living next to a friend has a 1st gen 4wd just sitting in the yard and it looks like a great project. No damage, two-tone paint job, nice rims/tires (tires are probably trashed) and been just fricking sitting there for several years. My neighbor asked why he didn't just sell it and got a stupid answer. He said the dude is an idiot and I believe it.

 

My parents' neighbor has an 85 P/U with a 5 speed and a camper shell just rotting under a lean-to. When I tried to buy it, he said it was his son's and not for sale because he "collects" them

Wife was all geeky about a Nectar so that it was.

I really, really wish I had not traded in my Grandad's 59 Chevy pickup. More or less great condition, 3 on the column, slant 6 under the hood and wood bed. Dad repainted it for me and let me have it for 16th birthday. Drove my brothers and neighbor hood friends to high school for two years. Wanna cry still!!! Should have just parked it in the yard. Brother had a generic 69 Camaro. Same fricking deal. Traded it in for nothing really.

 

You should sell the old one. You wouldn’t believe how many people buy them. It’s like old tires.

 

I'm not dealing with bed kickers.
