Something has gone horribly wrong at AU. They have lost 6 players to transfer in 3 months and I'm not talking about non-scholarship scrubs going to JUCO. I'm talking 4 star recruits that were seeing playing time. There is a lack of leadership and intensity at Auburn. No one is pumped on the field. No one is ready to smash someone's face. Also, the offense this year feels reminiscent of early 2017 when Gus was calling plays himself and was forced to give it up or be fired. He didn't like that but now that he has his $50 million parachute maybe he has taken the reigns back.

Furthermore, I see what I call the "Cam Newton Syndrome" taking hold in Auburn. They no longer try to recruit and develop talent. They are digging through the dumpster of Div. 1 looking for a diamond someone threw out.

Malzahn is a great trick play Xs and Os kind of coach. He is technical and thinking...sometimes to his demise. He has created this light surgical style of offense reminiscent of a PAC 12 school and he is getting exactly what they got.....run over by someone ducking their head and letting the big uglies clear a path.

So yes. Fire Gus Malzahn. The problem to this is who do you hire? Dabo would be a great choice, but he wants the Bama job and everyone knows it. He'd never be accepted or happy at Auburn.

 

Personally I think it is more than just Gus. It’s a unfortunate start to the year which will only get worse with GA and AL down the road. His buyout is $39 Million.

Could his plan be to get a buyout for $39 million so he could kick back at the lake during football season?

I think the problem is from the top to the bottom of the coaching staff personally. All the way to the trainers. Clean house. This ain't high school football Gus. I wonder how long the new AD at Auburn will put up with the mess the old AD (Jay Jacobs) made. I see the Auburn program the worst in the SEC if the current coaching staff stays on for a couple more years. Something is completely broken.

Granted I am a Bama fan but this is how I see it as well. This is my most unbiased opinion... I personally think Malzahn is a shit coach with a shit scheme. The whole "hurry up and hike the ball before the other team is ready" crap has run its course. It has never been about talent at AU with him. I think he has a hard time getting these very talented players to buy into his gimmicky scheme. AU's knee jerk reaction to him surprising UGA and Bama last year may cost them for a couple more years with his big buyout.

 

1000% agree. How big a hole this staff puts Auburn in is the only question. How will he get good recruits when good recruits are jumping ship left and right. The dumpster fire has started, who will put it out?
