yeah I'll measure my distance home on gps and compare it to the trip meter then just do a percentage difference calculation.

 

Depends on your perspective.
Manufacturer perspective: We saved a couple thousand by not changing the computer to use ABS sensors instead of the driveshaft sensor. We didn't save the cost of that mechanism, but by the time ABS was introduced, it was pretty cheap already. Who really wants to make a mod to the wiring harnesses to get the ABS data into the gauge cluster and process that different data, anyway? Gotta get this thing into production yesterday!
