not knocking @Jerneyman, but total chaos bed stiffeners are too expensive when there a forum member on here that makes them as well for $100.

Edit: I'd give the work to @Jerneyman if he's willing to take it on though. Just depends on how quick you want the stiffies

for the most part though, the tank average is very accurate on mine since i hand calculate almost every time.

no idea how accurate the trip avg is though.

yeah I got mine from a guy on here, but he quit making them. I'd be glad to let Wes take a look at them for design inspiration.

I get about 17 mpg, but most of my trips are very short around hoover.

when i let my mom borrow the truck before she had hers she got 21-22 mpgs in mine from Clanton to Montgomery; traffic is a very different animal going southbound to montgomery than it is northern to bham.

I was pleasantly surprised because that was still how it sits now fully armored and lifted.

he still makes them i thought, he just changed design slightly?

I paid 80 for mine shipped when he was just dumping inventory.

That's the plan, just don't have the slightest frame of reference for how many I'd need. We talking 1 or 2, or like 5-10?

I literally have never heard of doing that for your vehicle....since I've never had to deal with it.

so if you're truck is already heavy af can you just disregard doing this? y'all are learning a southerner a little sumthin'

edit: I mean I obviously know heavier vehicles do better, but do a few sandbags make that much difference?

i don't think this is a big issue in alabama, if you go into more northern states on the holidays sure, here i didn't have any trouble last year when it snowed.

our trucks feel pretty well balanced though as they are :notsure:

lol really though. I remember a few years ago we got a good snow and my dad's durango did great. my truck probably weighs awfully close to that thing now though.

Aren't you the one with the ginormous spare in the back already? You'd probably be fine to just tow that haha.

I can definitely tell my truck handles better with a load though. Makes me a little nervous when it rains especially- there's a bad off-camber turn into my community that many people blow when it rains.

I'll probably end up leaving at least a couple bags in there even without a chance of snow. Dampens bumps out a little too back there.

lol yes that's me. is there some magical weight number that just makes vehicles better in snow? I feel like our trucks are already stupidly heavier than they need to be lol. compared to the old tacomas/pickups they came from for sure.

Just depends on the truck design, which is why I asked here.

Makes sense if you consider how crappily it would handle with max load, if it was designed to drive normally/be well balanced when empty. I imagine each manufacturer has their own compromise somewhere on the spectrum.

so ebay is running a 15% off capped at $100 off sale.

I offered up 720 on the smittybilt tent to two vendors since that's what smitty bilt is selling them at right now. plus 15% off if they bite. $620 for a RTT, count me in.
