I use the Lincoln Power MIG 210MP works great but if you weld anything over 3/16 thick you really need to use 220v

It all depends on what you broke and where. Side note if you have manual hubs you can usually just unlock the hubs and drive home in 2wd if you break a CV.

Last trip to AOP a guy busted his rear ring gear and drove back 8 hours in 4wd with the gears and driveshaft removed.

Not that it does not happen but I have never seen a Tacoma with a broken rear axle.
Now I have heard people have broken their CV axles in the front so having a spare is a good idea.
If you don't have manual locking hubs you will need to change a broken CV.

i don't get how you break so many. look at the guy from tennessee on a 2nd gen with crazy 36"

i think he's stock toyota CVs?

then you got the guy from kentucky with dirt king LT using DK shafts, but I'm pretty sure the other parts are OEM for the CVs

are 1st CVs that much weaker or am i missing something.

@JBTacoma, you've probably seen these two trucks i'm referring to in person. one is i think allmotorex and the other i can't remember

They are on larger tires and regeared, when I break one it is usually doing stupid things.
When I get in the throttle to get over things Im at a higher RPM and if the wheels are truned and I loose and regain traction, Boom.
I really need to regear so I can stay out of the throttle.

I could really go for some 4.56 gears on mine.

And I don't think I'm getting a front locker either when I do it. :anonymous:
