    my OPINION is you don't need hours a day to get a solid workout in. 30 minutes will be fine if you don't piddle especially for someone not looking to compete. i give you my opinions bc you said hours upon hours in the gym, that's unnecessary. motivation is if you can't do at least 30 minutes of home gym workout you're going to be out of shape.

    I can do 30 minutes working out, easily. I just don't know HOW to do that. Does that make sense? Like I know how to powerlift and take my time and get to being big and strong, but I don't have the time for that. I don't know 30 minute plans and such.

    My advice, go in to a short workout motivated to work and keep lifting until you get a good sweat going. Lots of supersets is key if you do lift weights on a tight schedule as well.

    I need more info than that. Structure, a plan, something.

    Like a "do this workout this many reps and then this workout this many...blah blah"

    I used to follow the Wendler 531 plan. Kicked ass at it, but it takes a long time.

    Ah, I see. When I started lifting heavy again to lose weight I went with the Body Spartan workouts and modified them to fit my schedule. If you get a chance, look through their archive. It’s full of a lot of good stuff.

    Well, I have always been into both powerlifting and bodybuilding and used to only get excited by pushing the numbers up in squats and deadlifts. My prior workout partner was a semipro bodybuilder at the time and his approach was heavy sets and even heavier negatives which I liked because stacking the plates on squats/deadlifts got me excited. Now that I'm working out with an old school bodybuilder we are focusing much more on controlled reps while working in huge drop sets and heavy negatives.

    Switching up your approach and goals does a big number in getting your interest back into the gym. All it will take if for you to start seeing results somewhere and you will be hooked again.

    Unless it’s a physical contact sport, yes. I’ve been wanting to get back in to martial arts more than anything. Playing ball sports just doesn’t appeal to me anymore.

    I know you're right, I just miss what I used to have/do so much lol, but I know I can't get that back. Part of it was the gym in Arab, part of it was my gym-bro that is a firefighter (as gay as that sounds), it was just everything was the whole package. I've tried to find that in HSV but can't. So looking for other avenues that aren't going to make me just think about that haha

    I will for sure join something that doesn't cost a fortune and I can make happen around my work schedule and daughter time. I played softball 2 years ago and it was fun although we were terrible.
