My whole family has a prepper mentality. We have Plan A, B and C covered.

 

lol I'd be fine with that, but here's the real issue.

I sleep through the night. Amy does not, so middle of the night Amy gets up to pee. Guess who has to tag along? Leo. Guess who can't lift Leo up the ladder into the tent? Amy. Guess who has to get up to do that? Scotty.

 

Guess who turns in to a giant angry bear? Scotty.

 

i'm guessing leo get's separation anxiety if she was to pee alone?

also he is notorious for finding water/mud/whatever...and cleaning his feet to put him back up in the tent was annoying at Morris Mountain. would be a lot easier just on the ground..

 

yep. he would wake up every one of you at camp if I didn't help her take him too.

 

Can the dog sleep in the bed of the truck? That’s what my GF and I have started doing with our GSD. My rack doesn’t leave much room for her to get out, but I’m still planning on getting a safari straps net to close off above the tailgate.

 

negative, separation from Amy is a no-go.

I can’t imagine going back to a ground tent. Setup/takedown of those things is a pain. The air mattress inside is kinda nice though

 

I'd lean towards air mattress.

well, I'm only going this route if we find a super nice easy to take down and setup one. Matt said his was so easy to setup but takedown sucked getting it back in the bag. He did say the smaller version of his (4 person) is much easier to put away.

I mean, it's hard already for me to put the RTT away myself...

 

Getting a wet ground tent back in the bag haunts my dreams

you're correct. an RTT is perfect for an offroad trailer. setup/teardown was simple with my hardshell rtt so wasn't a big deal if needed to do it quick to run somewhere.

 

So you buy the tent from @stronghammer and I’ll build that rack for you.

 

I don't have the hardshell for him to buy you jackwagon.

my mom wants some, but idk if it's worth the extra money for the predetors over the cheap nerf bar style.

 

Also, I could even bring my dog Oscar along if I have a ground tent. That would be awesome to me. He's a well rounded (meaning FAT FUCK) 100lb dog...so no lifting to the RTT lol
