Actually yes. Factor 55 sells US made shackles made by Crosby. Read the specs for yourself, everything is verified including material origin.

ORIGIN is different. The US made Crosby shackles are verified. You have no idea what the Chinese shackles are made from. Could be doo doo cast steel or high quality forged steel. Feel free to guess.

again, I agreed that asking for more information is a good idea.

I never once said they are all equivalent, just that they are made the same.

    not tested, MADE.

forged, or cast. that is how they are made. not what they are made of or who they are made by. simply HOW.

The real question is will you get an answer from that Chinese manufacturer? Probably not.

Wow wasted 10mins reading through the same bs of everyone telling Scotty he is wrong and him still arguing and even if proven wrong then go back to argueing that he isn’t arguing:annoyed:

I will say, I read somewhere that having the WLL marking on them is very important and I do not see that on the Pin just the U part of the shackle. Probably worth the extra money for a good one. (Didn’t realize they were Chinese at first)

That being said, I have 2 metal shackles and unless I do find a good deal on some extra ones I’ll be buying soft shackles before Moab.

Why did it take 5 pages to get to what is hopefully the end of the chinese metal debate?

I've always heard you can use a strap around your hitch pin if you don't have recovery points. Is there actually any scientific advantage for using a receiver mounted shackle verses just using the hitch pin? Seems like less parts to fail?

From the opinions I've read, its simply ease of use and with the shackle mount it keeps the strap from rubbing on the hitch and fraying. I've personally been recovered using just a hitch pin and I was yanked pretty hard.
