I have 4 Amazon specials ive used a few times now. They were like $12 a pair w/ insulators. Chinese made and they work for me. Im not spending that much money on something like crosby over the chance that they may or may not be stronger. Thats why you dampen your winch line. JS :D

Does it really mater if they are tested or not?
Me personally, i will not stand in the line of fire of any shackle.
VW said their engines were tested and passed U.S. emission standards and millions of people believed them.
Me personally, I buy tested stuff for piece of mind but you can never trust what any manufacturer says.

My intention was not to disagree with you. My intention was to inform you and others reading this thread about poorly made products.

Safety is paramount while 4 wheeling. American made products (the good ones, at least) are rated and tested to their ratings. Usually, SWL (safe working load) is 20% of failure load. Overseas produced equipment usually rates SWL at 50% of failure load, and performs marginal if any testing to verify the rating.

There are many cases of improperly rated overseas manufactured products failing, and causing injury and death. Don't believe me - do your own search.

To answer another of your questions - if I am stuck, I will not allow non-rated equipment to be hooked up to my truck to extract me. Nor will I assist anyone using same equipment extract their truck. Death is a serious thing, and I don't want to experience it due to faulty equipment.

    Overboard? Paranoid? Maybe. Alive? Yes.

    No way!

It was this one, guess I will replace it with shackle combo pack. That will give me a total of 5 metal shackles, should be plenty.

Good news tumor was benign. They are gunna monitor its size over the next 6 months and see what it does. If it grows it comes out. So now we hope it dont.
