I don't have any pictures, but mine is mounted vertically to the back of the center console, just behind the rear cup holders. It is in the way if someone were to ride in the rear center seat, but the bracket has thumb screws so I can remove it and put the CB in the console if needed.

Will not fit with a softopper. The mounts would have to be outboarded quite a bit more.

I could build one. I’d need to see a softopper in person though. Don’t want to guess about the dimensions with something this large. I’d also need a solid commitment to buying it before I start since it is so large as well.

Found this pic that shows how I hold my CB. The retractable wire attaches to the mirror and keeps the mic in a safe convenient position. My cute kid is just a bonus.

I've already got my current CB mounted and I'd mount any other one in the same location.

I'd just prefer a handheld like my HAM is but if a handheld won't work for anything then I guess I won't go that route.

My Uniden Pro 510XCel is out of the way and mike easily accessible. Got it at Amazon. Liked the compact design that would fit in the cubby hole and actually still leave some room. You will have to remove the console to fit it properly and run wiring.

this year is easy for us, we will be at the beach with my dad on Sunday so we are grilling out and just chilling/fishing at the back area of the condo.

the gifts I got him is a new beach hat (with a gosh awful alabama A on it) and a book from Target, kinda from me and my sisters for this one, that he has to answer a bunch of questions in that tell his life story so that we can have his memories and a recollection of his life for forever. dad's a sucker for that kinda stuff and will enjoy doing it.

    here's the book: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/your-fathers-story-piccadilly/1127887231

yeah I think we are very lucky to have a dad that likes that kind of stuff. he's easy to get gifts, because he also doesn't want stuff, or need anything. grilling out together at the beach will make his day.

I took my dad to chocco for his first wheeling wheeling experience with Jeff. We had a good time.

My dad has helped me with the truck quite a bit and hasn't got to ride in it yet. I don't think he is ready.

Range is about the antenna, not the radio.

I have a Cobra handheld that I attach to my roof mount antenna - it does fine. Using the flex antenna while in the truck, I can't hear the truck next to me.

    Yes.

Different frequencies have different propagation patterns. HAM (UHF, VHF) signal behavior is much preferred for our type of usage.

Been crazy busy with work lately. Just browsing through the last few pages.

    1) get an exmark mower
    2) ham or CB the antenna matters more than the radio.
