I have gone up there a couple times a year for the last few. Cool spot for sure. Their “hiking” trail that they have on the map is not so great. Darn rutted our county road through hunting land is all it is

We used to go up there to party hard, pass out and camp out. Those were the days, hardly anyone, but folks with trucks and jeeps. It's still a real nice place though, especially if you like to climb.

Not many people hunting in the Cheaha area, due to so many hikers/campers. They do hunt all around in the TNF though.

Dang man, definitely appreciate the write-up, I agree with most of what you said. I have been thinking through all the setup options, and know that I will not be able to go out more than once a month, at least for now. I need the dry storage and roof storage (Roof storage more for looks, I will admit, though it is a good long term investment) more than anything. I have been wanting a tonneau for the past 3 years just for the utility of it.

I will probably start checking daily as well (I worked in the field before moving here, now I have a desk job so I have the time to check) for camper shells. That is ultimately what I always go back to when I think about it. A buddy of mine with an older Tacoma would always tell me, just go buy a 4Runner then! Not a huge fan of that option though.

I looked into a GoFastCamper for a bit, but I think I will try to find one of those used instead, if that's the way I want to go.

Thanks again for the pro/cons, I definitely appreciate it!

Buck's Pocket has a primitive camping area where you can fish.

I hear the single AALs have more bend to them, than the 3 leaf ones. Huh, funny you didn't get any squeeking from that.

Cheaha is the state park area of the TNF. I don't think hunting is allowed, but not a 100% sure. We used to backpack/camp there ALL the time and never ran into a hunter on the weekends. Now the scenic road heading up to Cheaha? Was covered with hunters' vehicles during hunting season.

We would be down for wherever really! Between hunting and backpacking/camping during the Fall, we spend a fair amount of time in the woods!
