ok time to switch topics once again... i am looking for a decent cooler that is relatively inexpensive. like less than $50, so no on the yeti's and other stuff. what would you guys recommend? just something i can throw in the back of the truck and keep at most a weekend supply of food or water in. I have an igloo or whatever water cooler and an igloo "island breeze" cooler i use as a lunch box that i generally take riding with me to hold water. just looking for something to throw in the back of the truck. is there a difference between a regular igloo cooler or whatever brand and the "marine" coolers? like i said im wanting cost of $50 or less. and i know before you even start paul and jim that there is no cooler that can compare to a yeti. but i aint buying one. :D just something cheap i wont care if it gets run over. because it will most likely be used to haul fish or deer or whatever else kind of meat i might get from knoxville back home and double as something to camp with... thoughts, options, ideas?

I agree, it does have a lot to do with the internals of a woman's brain. As I mentioned in another thread, Some women actually develop chemical imbalances after child birth that can seriously hinder their libido. My first wife was a prime example. We went to the doctors, they found she had a chemical imbalance and put her on a short term prescription. It wasn't 2 weeks later and we were at it like bunnies! That is how we got our second child. lol. After that we never had any issues, and she was ALWAYS wanting it.

I've got a coleman extreme, and it always keeps ice for a long time riding around the back of the truck camping. I think there's a 50qt that's right around $40-50. I'd go for one of those.

On a related note, have you guys tried dry ice? I got a block at walmart for a camping trip a few years ago, and you can either put it on top of your cooled stuff to keep it refrigerated or put it under to keep it ice (or is that backwards?) Either way, wow, it will keep ice ice as long as it lasts, we had no melted ice for 3 days no problem.

what do you think of these two? i may end up going up a size to around a 120 qt size, not sure but it would be of the same two types... only reason i can find to like the marine one better is the possibility that it will be better for just throwing raw meat into and not staining or holding on to stuff??? am i wrong or does that make sense?

for some reason i have found it to be a bit more difficult to get around my side of town.... but yeah we would use it at work from time to time when we were rebuilding a crusher... you would just grab some of the excess from using it to shrink the collars and other parts and throw in your lunch bucket.

i saw that but it shows out of stock..... so your opinion paul, would it go towards the everyday style cooler or the marine coolers?? im not seeing much dif in price so im trying to see if there is any dif in the coolers other than one is always white and has a ruler on the lid and the other has fancy colors???

    One data point: http://www.thehulltruth.com/dockside-chat/173763-did-cooler-test-kinda-coleman-vs-igloo.html#b

I've been really happy with my Coleman. It held ice for a week in Moab bouncing around in the back of the tacoma in desert sun all day. Even after the ice melted, the water was plenty cold to have good cold drinks. I don't know that I'd eat raw meat stored at that temp, but for drinks it'd probably keep them cold 6-7 days. If you're concerned about UV damage, coleman makes an extreme marine line that's white like the igloo. Best of both worlds.

good find keith!! i think i may save the couple dollars since the cooler will spend 90% of its life in storage and just get the reg extreme instead of the marine. seems those guys got 2 solid years out of tthe regular ones with them in the sun everyday and on the water all weekend. so i should get plenty of life out of one that only sees sun on rare occasions.

I've had mine for 5 years or so, and I've left it out on my back deck for weeks at a time. Still goin strong.

Jim, that's a good idea on the dry ice. I'll give that a shot next time I need to use it for a long time. Plus it all stays, well, dry. Nice bonus.

you mean you don't want a $300 yeti? but they are soooo coool!!!

pretty sure every cooler I have is some coleman xtreme variant (never bought one, just got done with college where people drink and leave them everywhere, I think I've been doing the same and I am just now down to two large ones and about 5 smaller ones).

I don't get all these tools with Yetis for their beer. I drink my beer long before it warms up, even just in one of those little cheap 6 pack size coolers!

The stickers and the hats kill me too. "I SPENT $300 ON A COOLER!!! LOOK AT ME!!!"

The best was a guy that my buddy saw down at hangout fest, had a yeti sticker on a yeti cooler, because it wasn't obvious enough with the smaller logo. Douchhhheeeeebaggggggg.

I will say, for a limited number of scenarios, I think they make sense. However, fratty fratterson boozing in the sand ain't one of those cases.
