Gastrocs are your shin muscles. Rope jumping will build all that up. Along with your shoulders and rear delts.

I've never done crossfit, but I know they squeeze like a whole workout session into like 20-30 minutes nonstop basically. Never done powerlifting either, I don't know much about it.

I did put up 245 on the flat bench 3 times the other day, which I'm pretty proud of. 6 months ago, I could barely do 135 ten times. So I know my strength is coming along.

ah good to know, I'm hoping strengthening my gastrocs will help prevent or eliminate shin splints. if it doesn't, I'm going to go get my legs checked out for some sort of tendon issue.

idk what you weigh but I'd for sure say 245 for 3 is awesome for you. I always gauged my strength off the 225lb lift because that's what they do in football lol. My most was 225 for 18reps when I had a 350 bench max, I'd love to be back at that but that's not what I need to work on. oh, I weighed 200lbs at that point. weight makes a huge difference in lifting heavy.

I need to find me a spotter for my bench press again. I haven't been able to hit my max in a while because my spotter has been my wife and my gym is full of old people. Lol.

I really need a workout partner again, but it's hard for me to justify gym time right now. I'm unopposed to selling my home gym stuff off and getting back to a gym, I just need more time.

Also, you need to be working out closer to me and not in Madison lol

For sure man! I agree weight does make a huge difference. I use to weigh 250lb. I threw the shotput in college. When i was that heavy i had a 420lb bench and 580lb squat. I was very uncomfortable though. I like my strength now better. Im about 175 and benched 305lb for one on bench the other day. Im very happy with my strength to BW ratio right now.

So there can be two baboons working out together? Sounds dangerous.

Upon more baboon research, they only get up to about 80 lbs. I think I'd rather be called a gorilla. They have up to 8 times the strength of the average male. :muscleflexing:

I'd work out with you if you didn't live a dang hour away. Also, I'll let you come move the heavy boxes around my garage and watch/spot you to get-r-done.
I miss working out 5 days a week, like I was last year. It is an addicting feeling when you see yourself progressing. This summers move has me all out of rhythm and really want to get back to it.

on a serious note...they do have a gym here at Boeing, that I can attend for free (if I go at least 8 times a month). my dilemma is my dogs. I already leave my house at 530-6 and don't get home till 3-330. That's 10 hours they are inside with no potty breaks and no attention...

I weighed 178 a couple of days ago. I’m trying to get down to 170-175. I’ll be shredded at 170 though. That was my fighting weight when I boxed and it’s the ideal weight for me height.

To help with shin splints you can do the heel stretch. Take one step backwards and press that heel into the ground while leaning forward. Or sit down with legs straight in front of you. Reach down and pull your toes towards you are far as you can. I get shin splints too and this is what I do to help alleviate that.

As long as they got shade, I don't see it as cruel. They are animals after all, much more resilient than they're given credit these days. But to each their own I suppose.

yeah I know, but I'm one of those that sees them more as family than as animals. one of my dogs gets out of the fence when there is thunder or the arsenal tests so that's an issue I can't seem to resolve, and Oscar barks his ass off at anyone that walks by and I just find that annoying.

I could pay someone like a Rover to go let them out everyday, but I don't want to do that because that's stupid money to spend...it'd be easier if Amy was already living with me lol
