    Budgeting 101 it all matters.

So if you go to purchase a truck and they have 2 identical truck and they say one of them gets 2 mpg better gas mileage you will say it don't matter to me just write one up?

I'm cheap on some things, but mpg just isn't that large of a factor in monthly budgeting. Sure, i could save 20$ a month with something better....but that 20$ didn't do as much for me as driving a vehicle I like did.

well that's a stupid argument, of course not. if they're identical you always choose the one with 2 mpg better, but that's an imaginary situation you just created.

but you're taking into account more savings than just gas now.

I'm not saying saving on gas isn't "saving". Obviously it is, as Tanner said "20$ is 20$", but to me that small amount doesn't matter.

Holy shitballs having an opinion with this group is impossible. You don't have to agree with my opinion, but that doesn't mean get bothered by it lol

insurance on the beater is 100 every 6 months, the tires are 1/3 the price of 285's, the car gets 40mpg even with a trailer, truck 16-19, fuel is generally 20% more a gallon.

you're right, well worth it. I did the math a long time ago with different total yearly mileages and then different ratios for how much I drive each vehicle to see where the break even point is and I save a lot.

no. if you gave me two identical trucks and said one "might" get 2mpg better, I'll take whichever truck and won't look back worried if I chose the right one. if you blatantly tell me 2 identical trucks and this one specific one is 2mpg better...obviously you pick the 2mpg better.

yes, you save a lot, but no vehicle pays for itself. they are all depreciating purchases, they all COST money.

one costs less when compared to another, sure, but it's not paying for itself.

So the 300plus i dont pay in gas but goes to the corolla doesn't translate to having an extra 300 to pay for the monthly payments on that lol?

it pays for itself, and you're going to learn how... i bought a beater that was done depreciating. actually when I was in that fender bender I made money on the car lol.

it gets me to work daily, and even gets me to garage door jobs on the weekends.

no, because that car still has more than monthly payments that it costs. tires, maintenance, etc etc.

my dad actually got his car totaled twice and insurance money and still drives it, but over the life of the vehicle it does not "make" money. there are other means to get you to work that are cheaper, sometimes free.

a vehicle does not "make money" and pay for itself.

I'm not offended that you have other opinions, it's just when you all are trying to tell me MY OPINION FOR MYSELF is wrong. like how does that make any sense?
