good grief *face palm*. you know exactly what I meant when I said it. for the typical individual, and the most common situations, cars do not make money or pay for themselves.

this whole thing started because you're the kind of person that worries about gas mileage in an FJ Cruiser lol

The gas mileage in my work car doesn't really come close to paying for itself. Of course it only gets 25-28 mpg and requires 93 octane. The real benefit is not having to worry about the truck being in drivable condition every day. Especially after a weekend of following @JBTacoma

she wants a new 4runner. she won't be caught dead in a prius. she doesn't even want a car, and even said the adventure Rav4 is too small for her liking.

I’ve gotten where I’ll basically drive anything now daily, and have a nice vehicle for certain situations.

Corollas will make you millions man. All cars make money. Always investments that appreciate. Gas mileage is hands down the most important ever, more so than health and well being even.

25 combined right now with corolla about 33-35 hwy cost 23 for full take and lasts 2 weeks. Cost 50 bucks a month in total i spend $318. on the corolla. I spent $50 a week on gas if there was no wheeling and sometime $80 if there was. Not to mention the trips i make home and back to bham which could cost up to $150 a trip on gas for a weekend. Total probably spent at least $350 or more a month on gas alone. So basically im spending less usually. and have an extra car lol.

I’m wanting to pick up a dual sport bike to commute to work. I drive 80 miles EVERY day in my Taco round trip. That’s 400 miles a week, 1600 miles a month. And that’s not including my weekend adventures. A bike would save me an arm and a leg in fuel costs. So if I ride my motorcycle to work every day for the next year, I could basically pay for the bike itself with the fuel savings of driving my taco.

Then again, I didn’t buy my Taco for MPGs. I bought it to hunt, fish, camp and go trail riding in!

it sounds like a maybe in a league of my own here, but I've never bought a vehicle and worried about the gas mileage. I do figure it into the cost of ownership, but that's all. I bought and modify my Tacoma because its a good place to spend the 30-40 minute one way commute. I've owned about 10 vehicles now and at best got 24 mpg out of a supercharged sedan that I owned for about 7 months.

Oh I know. Everyone that rides motorcycles, know the inherent risk of riding them. People making left turns in front of a bike, is the number one killer of motorcyclists. Either distracted driving, or misjudging speed causes these accidents. I ride like people are going to hit me and I ALWAYS check cross-traffic when going through an intersection, even when the light is green for me. The best thing we can do, is ride defensively.
