Gotcha. I've got CAD models of what I want cut out already. Just tell me what format you need and I can get that to ya when the time comes.

 

Still doing a lot of research, do you know how to convert them to have the torch path built in?

 

No idea as of right now. I can look in to it. Solidworks should have a function for it. I think Fusion 360 will do that for you up to a certain number lines of code for free. My parts are fairly simple in regards to cut path so I'm sure the G-Code for it wouldn't be that long.

 

Just to refresh, do any of you guys know anyone that could help with installing my lift kit?

 

I’m a geographer, I don’t have much CAD drawing experience.

 

If you want to drive up to Huntsville, I'd be willing to help you out. That's quite the hike though.

 

I meant to say that I am one of those people that will help in Birmingham. Just have to find a weekend that works.

 

What kinda lift you installing? I'm purchasing suspension upgrades soon and will be putting mine on myself, along with some help of my weld/fab buddies here.

 

Ill most likely be installing my locker next weekend so i will have all my tools anyway. what all do you have going on the truck?

Yep thats what i was planning on!

 

I'm looking at buying a decent enough computer to run Solid Works without any kind of issues. My brother has a copy from work I was going to get.

I may even learn how to use it and take the certification class and broaden my job horizon a bit.

The langmuir system has to have files converted to work with Mach3 though for the cutting path. I haven't gotten that far into it yet though. I'm just trying to get better at modeling.

 

The associates level (I think that's what its called) is a pretty easy cert to get. Take the practice test and get familiar with the functions and its easy. The next level, the professional level, is a bit more challenging due to the time constraints of the test. If you can get one or both of those, that'll be nice for a resume.

 

Since that's all he does at work I'll have a good teacher as well. May have to get him to do a call and screen mirror since we live an hour apart though.

Apparently he's very good at it, because they keep bumping his pay significantly every other year. Having experience and all that is great, but I need something to differentiate me a bit with some certifications. Especially if it's something I may even enjoy doing in free time.

 

That it is, but $40 dollars in fuel is a small price compared to $400 to get it done at a shop around here.

 

Bham isn't that bad of a drive.

I couldn't do this weekend because im still waiting on my lift to get in and I have a 5K. Its a Rough Country 3" with Lifted struts.
