It just feels weird how much money or time they're putting into donating. I get charitable companies have to spend money for advertisement or else you wouldn't know about the organization and pay employees to function, but the fact that the company is paying very high up coorporate level people to go and participate in meetings 100 or so miles away just makes me feel it's a bit more than just donations. IDK, do some googling like "why do companies push united way"

 

yeah, I'm more concerned with company push than anything.

 

So how about those nationals on their first World Series win?

My company donates to United Way and I have donated for many years.

@whitedlite Trey is right. You decided where the money goes. They will share lists of local organizations that benefit from their giving. You can chooses several or just one. Normally during open enrollment lots of focus on giving with everyone encouraged to give fair share. Like everything there is normally a goal of having 100% of employees give. For most people it is convenient to give once but, support multiple areas in the community.

honestly I’d rather donate my time than donate money. Bc my time is 100% given with nothing in return no overhead.

I also would rather go buy $200 in dog food and give to a shelter. Idk, something about charity work and a CEO making $1.5M turns me off. I get the ceo should make probably $300k, but $1.5M I guess paying for brilliant business man and advertisement has its price. If 1.5M is a better return on investment than say just a decent ceo at $300k.

 

How about a combo of all FTW! People in need are happy with money, time, money and time or anything you are willing to share.

I wish ours had open enrollment like you're talking about where you can donate to said organization without first going through UWW. Because that's just less money that group is getting having a middle man in the way instead of donating directly right?

I know, this isn't about donating as far as right or wrong. It's why do you think companies want to push donating. I question everything is probably why this is even thought of. I'm kinda cynical

edit: i'm not cynical, i mean I question others motives on if they're cynical

 

I've donated time to Habitat for Humanity and Home for our Troops, helping out with carpentry work. Relay for Life is another great charity you can donate time to as well.

I think it’s more about one donation that takes care of many. Company doesn’t have to spend money, time and resources to vet out all these different needs in communities. The UW does that for them. Employees and company usually donate. UW bases their budget for them and needs they support on what is donated. UW just wants to make sure they are supporting like they did in previous year.

 

The kickback is people getting to do something good. People want to get involved and donate but don’t know how or where. The UW and other organizations such as them help make it easy. Businesses are trying to make it easy and trying to be good community partners.
