Probably going to purchase new suspension parts and new wheel/tire combo this week. Not looking to spend 10 grand on the upgrade but would like to stay around $3000 for total cost and preferably lower if possible. I’ve heard many say the place to order suspension is through headstrong as nobody seems to be able to beat their prices.

Anyway anyone have good experience with what products to purchase where I’m not spending a small fortune for this? I’ve been an avid reader for quite a long time and realize many like the Bilstein shock upgrade to achieve a moderate lift as well as it being advisable for new uca to make life easier to fit a larger tire. A 33 is plenty big enough for my tastes and I would like a tire a little more aggressive but not an all out mud bigger tire that makes the truck sound like a a raging half broke vibrator.

Anyway anyone willing to shoot some info to stay on a moderate budget would be appreciated. Only other way I’ll cut costs is installing everything myself but the mount balance and alignment definitely have to be done elsewhere.

I can get you into suspension for an affordable price. Is the truck all stock weight? No bumpers, winch, bed rack, etc?

other guys have way more experience in setting up trucks. @InfernoChalupa has been pricing lifts for about a year, and tires for 3ish. when you are ready definitely message @HeadStrong Off-Road on here for your direct quote and save yourself some money over their website.

Edit - @Crikeymike is pretty active and will hook you up as well.

I believe the rule of thumb is anything over 2.5 inches in the front will warrant the need for UCA's for proper alignment. I'm running the headstrong 3 leaf AAL in the rear and really like it. My front setup won't do you any good, 2WD only kind of thing.

No rear weight except when hauling a trailer. Skids I’m fine with factory skid plate until I run into an issue where I find I need it. Don’t want to be the guy that thinks the truck has to be maxed out with all the stuff everyone else has. I’m not an experienced off road guy but I do like to play in the truck and know I need slightly more clearance and better grip tires :)

Over and above all the things @JBTacoma said, my system give me a second non-switched power source that I can connect accessories to without worrying about parasitic losses killing my battery. This means that all my lights, on-board compressor, CB, camper shell lighting and so fourth work all the time and didn't require me to cut and splice my factory wiring harness. Also, it is almost infinitely expandable for future accessories. All I have to do is connect to the breakout panel, connect a switch, and the wiring is done.

The thing that no one warns you about with most lifts is the sacrifice in ride quality. If you are interested in retaining on-road ride quality with a lift and have the budget ($3,000) I would go with a King shock setup. I got mine from Down South Motorsports. Link in build thread.

Picked up some race car parts, doors, hood and deck lid. They sure do a lot better job on fiberglass than they use to.

Yeah nobody mentioned it but I definitely knew this much about ride quality. Definitely not buying Kings right now. There’s only 3 big purchases I am interested in and that’s suspension, wheel-tire upgrade, and twin turbo setup. If I go with King shocks then definitely be putting off other upgrades for a while. Time I spend 10k in upgrades I could have bought a decent side by side. May consider that and not go all out on the truck....

Side by sides are fun but nothing like offroading and camping a few days with friends deep in the woods or mountain.

    Like, so many.
I found that my stock skid was banged up way more than I expected to be when I switched to steel.

c59-314 coils with 221 twin tube shocks on the front
l59-111r springs with the 940 twin tube shocks on the rear, with the bushings and greasable pins.

I'm going to get him to assemble the front coilovers for me with new top hats, so I can just remove the factory ones and replace with the Dobinsons.
