Sorry I am just getting back to this Brian, but yes if you still have that bumper feel free to do what you wish with it. I apologize for not getting it sooner. This past year has been absolutely crazy.

BTW fellas my truck is still for sale, had it sold twice but both buyers fell through. I just bought me a 4Runner and am going to pick it up Friday. Hopefully I will be able to get back on here and meet up with some of you soon. Work is absolutely destroying my like lately!

 

@nagorb did you have a chance to ride up to the Skyway Trail? From what I understand you can camp off of it anywhere. Can anybody confirm this?
Wife and I have been talking about just riding up one Saturday morning, running a couple of the trails and finding a spot to camp.

 

Sorry meant to give you an update. We went up, had a good time, some beautiful views up there. It's all easy trails, no need for 4x4, lift, etc. There are a few places to camp along the trail we did and I'm sure there are more on all the side trails as well. I'll post up some pics my wife took.

 

Post up your report too, I'm excited to hear!- I'll be working down in Sylacauga for a month. My plan is to camp down there so I don't have to drive back and forth to Birmingham every day.

QUESTION: Anyone know any good camping spots fairly close to Sylacauga?

 

I want to ride this road in December this year when I am home for the holidays. Any reason for concern? Any other trails that link up with this to make it a multiday trip? I'm from Birmingham but have not heard of this before.

 

Only thing I'd be concerned about would be rain, looked like it would get pretty nasty up there. There seem to be a good amount of trails throughout so I'm sure you could make a multi day trip.

Please post a trip report or any advice on the route. I have lived in Colorado for 5 years and in auburn for 5 before that. So not a uper familiar with the area but I grew up in Helena hoover Bessemer area

We plan on heading up there also when the leaves change. Not sure what weekend would be best. The 10th and 17th of October are out but according to the forecast they should change late September??? I'm not so sure I agree with that. How did they look when you were up there this past weekend?

 

They looked like they might change soon, there was some color on them, but I'm used to leaves either staying green or just turning brown.

 

Haha. Well we are kind of low on rainfall so they might just turn brown here. Seems some websites say it will be average others say the fall colors will be crap.

 

I guess we brought the CA rain with us. Though it is funny to know this is lack of rain, is rained more since we've been here then the past 4 years in CA!

 

Anybody else going to the Barber Vintage Festival this weekend up in Leeds @ BMP? We're riding up first thing Saturday morning.

Just hanging out Saturday then riding back home. Probably be there around 10. We'll park at Ace Corner.

 

I'll be watching my son perform his tae kwon do expertice on saturday. They are doing a charity board break-a-thon for camp smile-a-mile at Chelsea high school. If anyone wants to come by, you'll see a lot of boards being broke and the schools demo team perfom some cool stuff.
