so I've been shopping mainly for a 1st generation Tundra, and it is impossible to find one in good shape for a decent price. holy value holding batman.

it is the vehicle that makes the most sense for me to get though.

My nephew got one for his 16th bday. Black, has a couple minor dings but still a sharp truck. 4x4 to boot. Small lift with Mickey Thompson Classics on there.

lucky duck. I have to find someone that has one, and has had it for a long time, but it's like a tertiary vehicle or something to them. That's the best ones to buy...

same way I got my Tacoma, it wasn't even for sale lol

His was pretty nasty on the inside from the previous owner but I think his Dad randomly asked a guy at a jobsite if he would sell it. Like what you're talking about. I don't even think it was for sale.

that's the way to do it. I'm not looking for something in just amazingly phenomenal shape.

but something 15+ years old with 200k+ miles for over $12k seems ridiculous to me lol

I agree. I want an FJ for camping/trail riding but I ain't spending that kinda cheese on something to scratch up. Like no more than $6000. $16,000 is highway robbery for something with over 150,000 miles on it.

Agreed. But people keep buying em. FJs and 1st gen tundras are so highly desired, and nothing out there is really truly like them right now so it’s gonna stay that way. I’m hoping the new bronco pushes Toyota to bring back an FJ of some kind.

what do you mean specifically? like why they hold value?

they're the size of a tacoma with more interior space, a full size bed, and a 4.7L V8 that is a phenomenal engine.

they're kind of a "grandpa" truck as far as styling goes, but man they're reliable little beasts.

they're like the V8 Tacoma everyone ever longed for, in my opinion.

I think the Tundra is so Grandpa looking that Grandpa wouldn't even like driving one.

haha I love them. they look very similar to a larger 1st gen tacoma to me.

the 1st gen tundras that is, I don't much care for 2nd gen Tundras...kinda "bloated" looking

Oh man, you guys should have told me you like Tundras. I just let go of my 2005 Tundra 4x4 with 120,000 miles. Damn thing had a torn front seat, so I let it go for $3500 to some kid looking for his first truck.

Yeah, I had it listed for $3700 for 2 months here on the forum with no bites. Even just had the timing and head all redone 2k miles ago, brand new BFG KM3's, and a whole bunch of other stuff I made up on it. It was a great truck. Little Billy is gonna love it.
