Pretty much everyone in this thread is Birmingham and north. There is a Mobile Al thread floating around TW somewhere.

I live in West Mobile near Cottage Hill Road and Hillcrest Road. You will love housing pricing and property taxes here.

If you like to fish, hunt, shoot, and golf or go to the beach you will love it here. I didn't mention humidity since you are from Florida and know what I am talking about.

I would say that West Mobile is the safest area in Mobile just be sure you are a couple of miles or more West of I-65.

    Are you civilian or military?

Mobile is fine as long as you stay West of 65 like holeshot said. If you do have to go east of 65 on a regular basis, its ok, it only takes about ten minutes to get your pistol permit. Have you considered the eastern shore? I moved to Daphne, AL about three years ago and couldn't be happier.

Have several Coastie friends who did a tour at ATC Mobile and came back here to retire.

Let me know when you get here and I will hook you up with my shooting range.

I use to back in the day. There use to be some fun trails back then but I've heard they keep it closed more now.

I keep seeing stuff on some of the jeep sites, about current rides. I have not been on the trails in that area in many years.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
I feel like not many people wheel much anymore. My jeep crew has definitely tapered off a good bit.

Would love to do a MOAB trip, but I don't think I could do it this year. I am going to try hard to have it budgeted for next year thou.

Would prefer a north Colorado/Wyoming trails trip myself but MOAB is on the list for one day.

Hey whats up fellas? I'm heading down to Birmingham on Monday for a couple weeks. Wanted to introduce myself and see if any of yall are in the area and could recommend stuff to check out. Restaurants, Bars, a good gym, sight seeing, anything to keep me entertained. Would be down to meet up if theres anything going on. Thanks

It depends where you're going to be staying at in B'ham but check out Uptown and Avondale Brewery, I havnt been to the Brewery but I've heard good things. There's a bunch of local bars just depends on what your crowd is and how dressy you want to get.
