You are not supposed to reuse your U-bolts on the rear suspension. Those aren't cheap either.

You guys have to quit with the Walking Dead talk. I haven't been able to watch the last 2 episodes and won't for another 2 weeks, so no spoilers!

Also torquing to spec stretches the Ubolt itself. Another reason to never reuse ubolts.

I will flip mine when ever I do something to the rear. Just can't find a reason to do it outright with no other changes.

I noticed the kit for the 1st gen comes with extended break lines but the 2nd gen kits do not. I would have to purchase extended break lines correct?

@Davtopgun sorry to go back towards your Maxtrac setup but was there a huge difference in the front-rear leveling out evenly ? If not was there a lot of work required ? I'm interested in going with the Maxtrac 4'' spindle with my factory trd sport shocks.

My full setup had 7" front lift and 6" rear lift. This was with the Maxtrac spindles, 5100's on OME springs, and a deaver 6" leaf pack in the rear.

Park your truck on a level surface, and measure ground to fender front and rear. Assuming you get the 4" spindles, you want a leaf pack that adds the right amount of rear lift to match the front number. OME and Deaver both make multiple lift options in leaf packs.

It's pretty straight forward. Mine had a 2" rake, so I just purchased the sizes I needed. You will likely need extended front and rear brake lines.

Also, keep in mind that the spindles make the front wheels stick out of the fender more than the rear. So more cutting than usual will be required. Still pretty simple though.

@Davtopgun, thank you for the feedback sir. I've done some research on different setups e.g icon stage 2, fox and kings. I heard a lot of great things on the spindle lifts and really wanted to know what the pros and cons are.

I also read that Marie from head strong is a great person/vendor to purchase the spindle lift. Anyone else have good experiences as well pricing ? Trying to find someone local to do installations as well. If anyone can chime on this that would be totally awesome!
    Thanks everyone.

The only con I noticed with my spindle lift, is a little pop sound when braking quickly. I believe that it was from the lower control arm twisting slightly upon braking because the spindle lowers the wheel significantly further than was intended by factory adding extra torque to the lower control arm.

This could possibly be fixed with some polyurethane bushings, but I ended up selling the truck before I got around to replacing them.

I haven't purchased anything from headstrong myself, but I've seen many excellent reviews. I've always bought from wheelers off road.

Depending on your location, we do mod meets here and there where we all get together and help each other install stuff.

All lifts are pretty easy to install on a tacoma.

Sounds great thanks! I don't want to steer towards a different subject on this thread but I'm in El Monte ca, I'll probably check out if there's any Tacoma meets locally hopefully I'll see some different pre runner setups!

I was born in long beach and was raised in the Oxnard/Ventura area. Lived all over Cali. There are many meets out there.
