Morning folks! Good luck today Pat!

    From AlabamaWX

A FEW SHOWERS LATER TODAY: Alabama’s weather will remain generally quiet today, although a few scattered showers are possible this afternoon as moisture levels begins to rise. We expect a mix of sun and clouds with a high around 80 degrees for most communities.

ZETA ON THE WAY: Early this morning Tropical Storm Zeta is over the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula with winds of 70 mph. It will regain hurricane strength as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico later today, and NHC still expects landfall over Southeast Louisiana tomorrow evening as either a upper end tropical storm, or minimal hurricane.

The remnant circulation will move quickly across Alabama tomorrow night.

ON THE COAST: A tropical storm warning is now in effect for the Alabama Gulf Coast, and the Florida Panhandle as far east as the Walton/Okaloosa County line. To the west, a hurricane warning is in effect for coastal Mississippi and Southeast Louisiana.

A storm surge of 2-4 feet is forecast tomorrow night in the tropical storm warning area, including Mobile Bay. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph over Mobile and Baldwin counties. Wind gusts to 40 mph are possible at places like Pensacola and Navarre Beach.

Dangerous rip currents are likely along the coast today and tomorrow, but the surf will improve Thursday. And, a few isolated waterspouts or brief tornadoes are possible tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night.

INLAND ALABAMA: A tropical storm warning is in effect for parts of South and Southwest Alabama where winds could gust to 45 mph tomorrow night. And, a tropical storm watch is in effect for parts of Central Alabama for potential winds of 40-45 mph tomorrow night. While a few scattered trees could come down, we are not expecting widespread tree or power line damage.

Rain amounts off 2-4 inches are likely for much of the state, with lighter amounts over the southeast tip of the state. While some isolated issues are possible, for now we are not expect any serious flooding issues across the state due to the fast movement of Zeta. Most of the rain directly associated with the tropical system will come tomorrow and tomorrow night; the rain ends early in the day Thursday as the remnant circulation quickly moves east of the state.

Also, a few isolated, brief tornadoes are possible tomorrow night over the southern half of the state. The higher tornado probabilities are south of U.S. 84.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: The weather will be delightful for Friday and Saturday; lots of sunshine both days with lows mostly in the 40s and highs between 66 and 72. Scattered clouds arrive Sunday, and a few isolated showers are possible as an upper trough passes overhead, but most places will remain dry. The high Sunday will be in the low 70s.

NEXT WEEK: For now much of the week looks dry with seasonal temperatures; See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

TIME CHANGE: We go back on standard time this weekend; set the clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night. Sunset time for Birmingham Sunday afternoon is 4:54p CST.

ON THIS DATE IN 2006: A waterspout came ashore and produced EF1 tornado damage in Apalachicola. The tornado cut a path approximately 1 mile long and more than 100 yards wide, damaging a fast food restaurant, school, hospital, electric power substation, and dozens of homes.

Like you said, sounds like plugs or coil. I would change the plugs 1st if they have that many miles on them. Then get someone with a OBD2 scanner or AutoZone to see which cylinder it is, then move that coil, reset the codes and see if the problem moves to where ever you move the coil to.

It could just be plugs. If it isn't the plugs find out which cylinder it is and I would swap that plug wire 1st and see if the problem follows it. If it does change the plug wires, if it doesn't you will know its not the wires. If it's not the plugs or wires move that coil to another cylinder to see if it follows it.

Flashing is a dead miss. If you scan it it'll pop up p030something. The last digit being the cycl # thats misfiring. It could be a coil pack or even plug. Injectors going bad out of the blue like that is pretty rare.

I hate that I have to drive it somewhere to get it scanned. I may just break down and buy my own OBD scanner just to have around the garage. The truck is parked at his maw maw’s house, so I’ll have to go over there to diagnose it.

My fingers are crossed that it’s just bad plugs.

Was going to say mine did that exact thing on my 2.7 1st gen after I washed the engine one time. The o-rings around the plug wires got old and let some water down around the plugs shorting them out. Ended up having to suck the water out and replace plugs and wires on it. Just a thought in case the engine got cleaned lately. Threw all the codes for a misfire and engine light was blinking. Was driving the same as you describe also.

Thanks Murph. I’m gonna replace the plugs first and go from there.

The iPhone OBD adapters have to be WiFi if I’m not mistaken. I have one I used for windows and android that’s Bluetooth you can have if you want it. They’re cheap online too, that might be faster/less hassle.

my wife’s car did that too. Giant rat jumped out from under the hood haha. It had eaten through the spark plug wiring a centimeter from the plug... The whole harness would have been outrageous to replace, so I meticulously took apart the two plugs and spliced in new wire. Stupid rat.

Bought one of these when I had my 1st gen. Has worked great. Haven’t used it much since I put a Ultra Gauge in my 2nd gen. We did use it last shift on my partners truck at work after it threw a code.
