Alabama thread!

I don’t know if anyone is interested in house renovation, but I thought I’d share my first project I took on at 23. It was a run down five bed 3.5 bath 3,200sqft home with a 650sqft second building/shop. Built in 1926. I didn’t have any credit and assumed the privately held mortgage for next to nothing (which is what I had). Then I commenced to work my ass off!

Everything was done by me and later my wife helped. Every square inch was redone. Roof, rewired, new plumbing, all bathrooms ripped down to the studs and rebuilt, etc. Fence and gate was a special project of mine inspired by Monticello.

Haha I can still smell that sappy heart pine. We bought another fixer up one year ago with 30 odd acres. This one will probably be our forever home.
