I just hate having grass all over me after weed eating but overall it’s not so bad.

Off topic but I subbed to the AR thread and probably shouldn’t have. Got me wanting to build one.

SUN AND STORMS: A moist, unstable airmass will sit over Alabama for the foreseeable future, and with an upper trough north and west of the state that means scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms on a daily basis through the weekend. It won’t be an all-day rain, or a washout, but just know that you will deal with a few passing showers or storms, especially from about 1:00 until 11:00 p.m. The chance of any one location seeing rain each day is 65-75 percent, and the storms that form will be very efficient rain producers with this kind of airmass. Otherwise, look for a mix of sun and clouds through the weekend with highs in the upper 80s today, and mid 80s tomorrow and Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: The weather just won’t change very much. Warm humid days, the sun will be out at times, and expect a number of showers and thunderstorms around, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will remain below average with highs mostly in the mid to upper 80s.

UHI STORM? An isolated, lone thunderstorm developed over downtown Birmingham around 7:00 p.m. yesterday, and dropped over two inches of rain in a short amount of time. A flash flood warning was issued, and some streets temporarily were impassable because of high water. Considering the circumstances, there is a good chance that the UHI (Urban Heat Island) effect was partly to blame for the development of this storm.

An urban heat island occurs when a city registers higher temperatures than the surrounding rural areas. Cities like Birmingham heat up because of all the cars, air conditioning units, idling engines, and miles of asphalt and concrete that either produce or retain heat. The added heat causes air to ascend over the city center and sink along its periphery, aiding in thunderstorm development.

TROPICS: Shower activity associated with a non-tropical area of low pressure located several hundred miles south-southwest of Newfoundland is becoming less organized, and recent satellite wind data indicate that the circulation is weakening. The low is expected to degenerate to a trough later today south of Newfoundland, and its chances of tropical cyclone formation have diminished. Tropical storm formation is not expected across the Atlantic basin through early next week.

ON THIS DATE IN 1979: The most damaging tornado in Wyoming history touched down 3 miles west-northwest of the Cheyenne airport. This strong tornado moved east or east-southeast across the northern part of Cheyenne, causing $22 million in damage and one fatality. 140 houses and 17 trailers were destroyed. 325 other homes were damaged. Four C-130 aircraft and National Guard equipment sustained $12 million damage.

I've managed to get parts of ours done this week. Finally got the front finished yesterday. Hopefully, barring no afternoon storms, we can get the back done this evening.

Don't say that man, that sucks!

I'm the same way sometimes. Cut the front half that everyone sees, and I'll get to the back whenever I can!

I have several questions about this.. I understand the concept but I’m wondering, if you had a device large enough to produce enough heat, could you essentially weaponize the weather?

Man, since living in the country with no neighbors and very few visitors I have totally slacked on cutting grass. I haven’t edged anything this whole year :anonymous:. Hell one time I had to bush hog the grass before I hit it with the mower. My wife hates it so much haha my excuse is I’m working on the inside of the house. It’s a total gut job so it’s taking most of my effort. Fuck the grass, it always keeps growing back haha

In theory I suppose you could weaponize it. You would have to have a substantial heat source that you could direct to a certain location. Temperature not too high, not too low and you would think storms would form as long as the air is moist enough. :notsure:

Friday is a busy day to get stuff out the door too. I don't understand why Friday was picked other than to keep us here until 4. That's the only thing I can figure.

Note to all. If your company is bought by someone else. Start looking immediately for something else. Don't wait.

Being bought out by someone else has its pros and cons, depending on where you stand within the company. At least in my experience it has. Management is usually the first to go, since the new owners will bring in their own management team. Hourly workers typically will keep their jobs, at least in my experience they have.

I was in line to be Design Manager. Now I'm back at the bottom. 15 years down the drain. Two of my jobs before this one ended bad because the original company was bought. Naturally I don't expect this one to go any better nor has the new company shown that it will. Just a matter of time until the dead end sign is visible.
