Figure this is more relevant locally!

    Howdy,

Finally officially joined the Toyota family after many many years of many many cars and phases. From rallying clapped out Mazda RX7s to crawling boulders twice my height in TJs to road coursing twin-turbo Subarus, I've always loved the simple overland builds you'd see on Landcruisers, 4Runners, and Tacomas. Here are a few pictures from a loooong time ago before everyone carried a decent camera in their pocket:

I recently finished my second overland Ford Transit build and took a 6 month, cross-country road trip in it with my wife and dog.

The vans I build are your full-on, rolling apartment in farmhouse variety so the females enjoy them also. full kitchen, bathroom, shower with hot water on demand, etc. But behind the scenes are systems and equipment that would make a lot of mega overland builds jealous. 400aH Lithium, 3000W inverters, fresh water for weeks, solar panels that endlessly supply enough power for anything you want to run. You name it, the vans can handle it. I've taken these big rigs down some gnarly trails in the PNW and Southwest which the rig handled with ease.

As the summer came to a close though, we figured it was time to pack it up and lay down some roots so we settled on Birmingham, Alabama as a hometown not too far from both families and friends.

On the way home, I scored a sweet deal on an '18 TRD OR in Quicksand and quickly got to work on a few little minor adjustments and cargo-carrying modifications. I noticed the old bed racks that Toyota used to sell and figured I had an angle grinder and some sheet metal laying around so I could fashion up something similar to carry my bike rack and rooftop cargo hauler.

Not pretty but they were free and they do the job until I decide on a rack or camper shell for the bed.

My plan for the truck is a DD that we take camping occasionally and that I use to explore some of the woods and fire roads around Alabama and the SE. I already have a set of 5100's for the front and rear and a Deaver AAL for the rear lift. Again, nothing crazy going on here just a capable DD. Thoughts and suggestions on my plan for the modest lift are welcomed and appreciated.

For tires I've always put BFG's on any rig I own and I plan to do the same here. While I toyed with the idea of looking cool with KM3's, I know I'd never use them and would prefer to not lose the MPGs to the m/t's. KO2's in a 265/75 on stock OR wheels will suffice for a long time.

Anyways, I figured I'd document my build here and hopefully glean some knowledge from those who've been modifying their Tacoma's longer than I have.

    Cheers!

Depends on the Doc but yes in this day and age when they are wined and dined by big pharma and ins. companies the hypocratic oath is just a bunch of feel good words being spoken. This past 1.5 yrs have shown us how docs really feel about things and that oath means nothing to them

Seems that most who take oaths don't really mean it anymore
