    Morning!

    From AlabamaWX

RADAR CHECK: Rain is falling across much of Alabama early this morning as a cold front pushes through the state. Temperatures have dropped into the 30s north of the front, but it is a mild morning for the southern half of the state where temperatures are in the 60s. The front will continue moving southward today, and the rain will end from north to south, followed by clearing this afternoon over the northern counties of the state. Highs today will be in the 50s over North/Central Alabama… about 20 degrees cooler than yesterday in many places.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Clouds move northward tonight, and tomorrow will be a mostly cloudy, cool day with highs in the 50s. An isolated shower can’t be totally ruled out, but most of the day will be dry. Then, a wave of low pressure forms along the front to the south, and rain returns late tomorrow night and Sunday. The most widespread rain will come over the northern 2/3 of the state, and amounts will be generally 1/2 inch or less. Rain will end from the west Sunday afternoon, and the day will be very cool with highs in the 48-55 degree range. The sky will clear Sunday night.

NEXT WEEK: The week looks dry and pleasant with sunny days and fair nights. The high will be in the 60s Monday through Wednesday, followed by low 70s Thursday and Friday. Still no sign of severe thunderstorms, snow, or ice for Alabama for the next 7-10 days. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1934: A series of tornadoes moved across the Deep South. Nineteen people were killed in at least six significant tornadoes. The hardest hit communities were Bowden, Georgia and Shady Grove, Alabama. One person died in a tornado near Calera. One home in Lauderdale County Mississipi was picked up, thrown four hundred feet and blown to bits. Six family members were killed in the house.

ON THIS DATE IN 2015: Much of North Alabama was covered in snow. Over 12 inches of snow were unofficially measured along the Highway 278 corridor in Marion County. The highest unofficial measurement came from Guin, with 12.7 inches. Amounts in the Birmingham metro were generally 1/2 inch or less, with very little snow reported south of I-20.

@Gilmorec61 I’m stuck with 1 inch block in the back to maintain lift. I really want to lose the block. I’ve though about Deavers but, the price tag is crazy. Currently on heavy Dakars.

Picked up some spindles yesterday from a guy for $70 bucks lol. Gonna use these to weld the gussets and double shear plates on so no downtime for the truck.

I hear ya there. One additional option that has come up since I posted last is the Dobinsons heavy leafs rated for 800-1200 at 2.1” of lift. Just not sure that’ll give me what I’m looking for either

Sorry i totally missed this from a few days ago.

Having not run either of those trails (iirc), can't really say lol. I like a challenge but I'm not intentionally looking for trails where I know I'll get body damage on. Iron Gap, Coppinger Cove, Trail 6, Trail 49, trail 6, coming back up 51 from panther rock.... those are generally my trail flavor when it comes to technical/crawling. When it comes to exploring/fireroads its more of a higher speed washed out roads scenario.

Good to know. Yeah, I figured that would be the case for any spring, and thats kind of a concern going with Deavers or similar. I don't want to spend 1.3k on leafs just to have to replace them in 2 years bc they've worn out. Id rather to the 63 swap and if i have to replace them in two years, its ~$500 for a new set of leafs. That may not be realistic though, just what im thinking with the expeirence I've had with my icons so far.

If i do go OE, I've got the archive shock relocation and the bamf hangers sitting in a box... okay to combine those two or should i sell the bamf and go with the archive hangers if I go that route? Thats kind of another reason i need to decide on the 63 or not bc it'll determine what route i go with the hangers haha

Earlier you mentioned having ~2k in the 63 swap, whats the breakdown of that? I'm assuming you balled out on leafs unless there is something else Im missing...

    63 Kit - $163.95 - https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/63SWP.html
    Frame outriggers - $71.96 - https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/OUTRIG-45.html
    5/1 63 leafs - $389, ~$550 shipped - https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7367

That brings us to about $800

If you're including the shock relocation in that estimate that makes sense too, but that will be happening whether i 63 or stay OEM

It gave me about 2.5" with a camper shell and decked. I'm running an empty bed at the moment and sitting about 2.75" I think

You'll need to get the ideal chevy 63 swap kit. Since 63s are wider you'll need that plate and U-bolts
    https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/R1799.html
I used these springs. They have more arch which was a plus for me. When I got them 3 yrs ago they were a little more.
    https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=57460
Yes I am adding in the AG relocation that can handle a 2.5 body and 14" shock $550
Then 2 King 14" RR shocks at 900 bucks
    The frame outriggers
You'll need longer rear brake lines I went with 29" long one iirc from Crown they were like 60 bucks
Plate steel to box the frame and tube for extra crossmember. that was like 100 somethingish iirc.
I already had them but wheel spacers to clear the shocks

So I'm not including is the purchase of new wheels with a more aggressive offset plus the wheel spacers I already had that got me an effective 3" BS which I clear he shocks by like 1/4"

I'm sure there are some odds and ends I'm missing.

If that’s where I’m thinking it is, it’s leased by a hunting club I have been casually trying to track down information on what club it is to see if they would consider a trail access membership to use during non hunting seasons

Still have some finishing touches, but man I’m blown away. Smoothest ride I’ve ever experienced. Took it for a spin on my land and on the road to get some gas. So much fun to drive.
