The AR is the more superior rifle to the AK.

That thing does look pretty nice though. PSA has some nice affordable stuff.

I agree the AR is more battle tested and proven rifle. But I love how the AK looks with that wood trim! I mainly just want it to plank with at range and stare at lol

I caught a PSA AK rifle on sale a while back. Just wanted something different and like the styling of AKs. Came with a olive drab UTG folding stock. It’s been fun to shoot. I’ll just leave it with iron sights and enjoy it as is.

A 12x1.5 grade 8 stud doesn't reach it's stretch (yield) until like 150 ftlbs the OE torque is well below that and tightening by hand or with an impact unless you go nuts you'll still be within the safe zone. For reference a GM car same spec stud the torque is 110 some are 120. Engineers choose torque specs and fasteners based on the clamping load they wish to achieve + a safety factor. You are correct you can strip dissimilar metals as well as cause galling which is why I don't and will never use an aluminum or Ti lug unless it has a steel threaded insert. All bolts have a stretch point (yield), some head bolts have you torque to that yield and then go X amount of degrees past that yield to get the clamping load needed.

I have slide rules and charts for all this kind of stuff as well as adding or subtracting torque based on offset, extensions, sockets, etc.

o_O WTF AK still being used to this day older rifle and just as if not more battle tested and proven than the AR platform. Arguably neither is superior to the other. These variants of both have had their issues and still do from time to time with new or cheaper brands and companies.

My co worker has one. I will get one eventually as a house gun. Better than a pistol and not killing my (hopefully) neighbors fridge

There’s a reason AKs are called “trash can” guns. Lol. Yeah, they work, but not as accurate, slower follow up shots and can’t haul as much ammo with you. I owned an old Norinco AK long ago and wasn’t impressed.

@ovrlndkull i was saying more along the lines of Jonny quote. Not that AK not battle tested just that it’s more proven accurate and better all around. That being said AK still he’ll of a gun. I’d trust my life with one for sure. Can’t say how I feel since I don’t own one at this moment but I’ve shot more than a couple and I liked the feel of the AR more. But love the way AK looks
