i think function over form is key to any build. Like if power is adequate then really no need to overpower unless you really have $$$ to blow. For me it would make the drivability of the truck back to very enjoyable. I can get around in it but its not ideal. i can go 75-80 just fine in 4th but on any given incline i have to downshift to 3rd.

Yeah thats the problem with lifting a truck and going bigger tires it messes up the gearing and power needed to proform correctly. I was able to regear my Tacoma after 33s to proform decent but if I had gone to 35s it would have killed it offroad for sure. You can fix it by regearing but that messes with your top end speed and if you fix it with more engine power it puts more stress on everything behind the motor. Finding a balance between on and off road can be hard.

Got the first ring on fine but on the second I’ve snapped two bolts on the final torque.

Spacers, you can buy them but they are pricy and hard to find in stock, I used a fan belt

Thought that but the first one went on pretty easily

edit: reading the description makes me believe that would work. Think I’d need longer bolts?

You shouldn't need longer bolts as long as your spacer is not thicker than the tire bead.

Yep definitely need spacers. Dang. Oh well I wanted to paint them so now’s my chance. I don’t see any vision specific spacers. Are they universal? How’d you make yours?

    I used used a v-belt

You can see it in this picture

Did your wheels not come with four longer bolts to pull the lock rings down so the shorter bolts can be used?

How’d you get it to line up and get bolts through there? No I didn’t get any longer bolts. I was able to get them to all snug up, but on the final torque I broke a bolt two separate times

I used four longer bolts, pushed the belt in, tighten the bolts enough to get the shorter ones started.

Oh ok so the bolts didn’t go through the belt just on the outside of it, right? We print on PVC for some signage. They call it PVC, but it’s more like flexible foam plastic. Not rigid like PVC pipe. Maybe I can trace the ring on it and cut it out. Not sure how much it compresses though.

Yes, the bolts do not go through the belt, a lot of people use v-belts because they work well and are a lot cheaper than the rings they sell. One ring is around $18 and only 1/8 inch thick, so you may need 3 or 4 per wheel, could cost $68 a wheel. That v-belt in the picture cost me under $6. The side you see in the picture is the thick outer side of the belt.

Apparently three of my five tires have a bead that measures 0.75” and the other two measure 1”. That explains why one fit fine

Looks like you have a pretty good groove where the bead sits on the wheel you shouldn't need much.
