I watched a vid showing how far the parts/supplies for a Prius. I want to say it had pieces from 6 of the 7 continents. It was crazy. I honestly don't know much about electric vehicles, but what happens to the batteries when they need to be replaced? Can those be recycled?

Unless something has changed recently they don’t have a good way to dispose of or recycle all the lithium batteries being used. Wouldn’t you know, when the world thinks lithium is in short supply the US discovers the largest deposit ever in Nevada and Oregon.

 

Now I like the Prius’s I’ve had cause it’s all about dollars and mpg, but I think you have to drive a Prius over 200k to actually be carbon neutral and I’m sure that don’t take the battery disposal in to account.

I thought I saw a tesla battery cost $20,000.00 I could be wrong.

I agree, I am not a fan either as an effective means of everyday transportation. However, I gotta say from a performance aspect. As in race cars or just "toys" / project vehicles I bet they are pretty fun. But I would never want to depend on one for daily commuting.

 

Better still, Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, claims every new Tesla battery should last between 300,000 and 500,000 miles. The U.S. Department of Energy uses 15,000 miles a year as its assumed standard range of annual driving for consumers, which would put Tesla's battery life at between 20 and 33 years.Sep 9, 2023

That's a pretty good lifespan.....still don't want one though

 

I might be able to do that but kinda hard to get pictures while I’m driving, unless I go the dash cam route.

They only warranty them for 8 years or 150k. I’m sure if they were confident about 300k they’d extend that warranty on out some.
