I am by far a be all know all.

    Questions for yea..

    1. What are you trying to do with it?
    2. What kind are you looking for. Handheld, vehicle mount or a base station?

I have a Midland MXT115 (vehicle mount) in the jeep. It serves its purpose when trail riding with multiple people, whether calling out issues or on coming traffic on the single lane trail.

    IMG_0136.jpg

If you are looking to just get on the GMRS and talk away, you might have issues as most just use them when needed. HAM on the other hand.. you are most likely to get someone any time of the day or week and shoot the poop when scanning frequencies.

I started studying for the HAM license a few years ago, then just fell out of it. HAM does have a greater range of talk distance too.

    Pipe Pipe everywhere's pipe.
Pressure washed something like 10 bundles of 4"x 20' PVC pipe today and restacked and banded.
Tomorrow is more of the same.
Apparently there's millions of feet of pipe.

Trail and emergency comms. A step up from the CB.

Thinking about getting both: a vehicle mounted one and a handheld

Don’t plan to to shoot the poop. Figured I would slowly migrate from the CB to GMRS radio and then to HAM as I get more time. I understand how the CB works. Figured I would play with the GMRS and learn some about how repeaters work.
