Alarm noise

Hello everyone I have an issues with my 2015 taco
1st is that after I lock my truck with the factory alarm it spontaneously makes 3 small honks like if someone was tampering with it but no one was messing with it and I check my cameras and Also was there went it happened
2nd I hear a humming noise coming from the gas tank area also spontaneously happens too which is weird but not all the time
Any solutions?

 

The humming noise from the gas tank is Normal.
Nothing to worry about, it has do to with emissions.

The horn, I have no idea.
What does your key fob look like?
Maybe it isn’t an OEM alarm?

 

Did you buy your truck new? Aftermarket alarm? Didn’t know there is a honk option but I don’t have any fancy software to play with.

 

CPO truck I bought in 2018 I change the original battery it had cuz it died 8 months after I bought it the alarm is original I have two sets but it happens spontaneously though

 

Good, it’s supposed to make the noise when the truck is off.
That’s how it was designed. There is a timer that starts when you turn the truck off.
Depending on certain criteria, the “hum” AKA=EVAP Test will start.
Simplified version is, it’s checking the fuel tank for vapor leaks.

 

I get three honks if try to lock my truck with a door open or if door is not closed all the way. When you close the door ill get one more honk telling you its armed and locked.

 

3 rapid hooks if the a door is not closed
1 hook if all closed

Wow didn’t new that but does it run all day too? Cuz I was curios one time and I went back couple hours later and it was still humming

 

Yeah I make sure all my doors and windows before I lock it but some how it still do it?

 

No, that is not normal.
Mine runs maybe 1-2 mins.

It should not be running nonstop for hours?

 

Could also be sensitive alarm? Even though it from factory?

Will a Tacoma do a three-honk when you try to lock it while it is still running? I wonder if the noise from the gas tank area you are hearing is the pump running, because it is still energized. That might indicate your ignition switch or an associated relay is keeping the circuit powered up after you have switched it off. And the alarm may look at that as “vehicle is still running”.

 

Just went to test this, and the answer for my 2011 is "no". If the ignition is on, pressing the lock button on a second remote does nothing. If the door is open, I'll get a long beep, not three beeps.

 

Check the connector under the dash to the alarm. Mine had a wire that was crimped on the insulation
and one day after I pulled in to the drive way it died - completely dead. Toyota towed it in and it took 3 days to find it.....

maybe a wire from the door switch is not making contact in the plug.

 

what?? mine makes a different sound it sounds like a new car alarm you know the chime sound eeeeeeeeeee when the door is not closed all the way when I try to lock it but when I lock it honks 1 time

 

Checked and still can’t find the problem I’m replace the key fob battery and see if that helps if not I’m try my other set of keys …..
