I was looking at my build sheet and didn't really see anything about an alarm system. I am getting a DC 4X4 SB TRD Sport AT with the premium Nav and JBL system. I would assume that with an MSRP of 40K it comes with security. Shouldn't it be a line item?

They slap that cost in once you sit down with finance. Same with the extended warranty. They make you decide on the spot to up your final fees. From what I understand it's all installed already, they just put in a chip. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would hope it comes with a basic system. I can't think of any modern vehicle above $15k that doesn't.

It has a basic alarm, no passive alarm and no shock sensors and i do not believe any kind of ignition cutoff. It will lock on its own after 15 minutes (atleast thats what one of the car settings says). I am OCD about locking my car before walking away so I likely will never find out if it locks itself.

So basically it comes with keyless entry and an alarm system however if I want to activate the alarm system I have to add it on at time of purchase and they will do so.

I wonder if its the same plug and play option from my 2014. Im tempted to just switch it out. Anyone know where the module is located for the factory alarm? Can I trace the LED wire back to the box?

Glass breakage sensor is an accessory item and is not included as a standard item on any model Tacoma

if you want a oem factory alarm, go look at the master list.

    V2 - Glass Break Sensor - $ 180 | $ 299
    V5 - Security System VIP RS3200 Plus - $ 240 | $ 359

Does your glass breakage sensor have a blinking red light? My gen2 had a toyota glass breakage sensor with a blinking red LEd installed on one of switch blanks on the dash.

The passive alarm is a dealer installed option. No idea if its a complete install or simply installing a chip

I will say that my limited has a sticker on the glass saying that there is an alarm system, but I did not order it that way. I will also state CAUTION FOR PUSH BUTTON START: Once the truck is started the key can be removed and the truck will still run. My friend decided to try it on mine, and he was able to go around the whole neighborhood without having the key.
